Quebec Royalty Collection Organization SOPROQ Rebrands as Panorama
Along with the name change, the neighbouring rights organization recently entered into alliances with the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) and CONNECT Music Licensing.

Farewell SOPROQ, welcome Panorama.
The Quebec collective management organization SOPROQ has just announced a new brand image and a new name, Panorama.
In an announcement, Panorama says it will bring "the same passion, the same dedicated team committed to supporting independent labels and makers so that each use of a sound recording or music video is paid at its full value."
The new name follows recent alliances with the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) and CONNECT Music Licensing, centralizing royalty collection for rights holders in the independent production sector. The new name reflects the Quebec organization's increase spread across Canada and internationally in the neighbouring rights sector.

As part of its alliance with CIMA, Panorama has signed an agreement for the transfer of all independent rights owners from CONNECT Music Licensing.
The organization also promises simplified access to licences for the reproduction of sound recordings or the use of music videos, via a new one-stop shop operated by CONNECT and Panorama.
"With these new collaborations and the long-standing involvement of ADISQ in the evolution of the organization, Panorama is beginning a new chapter in its history with the firm intention of being the leader in the collection of neighbouring rights and the defense of the interests of all independent music production in Canada," says Panorama.
SOPROQ (full name Société de gestion collective des droits des producteurs de phonogrammes et de vidéogrammes du Québec) was founded in 1991 as a non-profit collective management organization for the rights of independent labels and makers of sound recordings and music videos.
It was designed to distribute to its rights holders the royalties resulting from public performance rights, reproduction rights and the private copying regime for sound recordings and music videos that are part of its repertoire.
Over 10,000 rights holders in the independent music production sector are represented by Panorama in the management of their royalties. The associated repertoire includes over 10 million titles. In fiscal year 2022-2023, royalties reached a record high of more than $17.5 million, and membership numbers have grown significantly.

As a member of Re:Sound and, by extension, the Canadian Private Copying Collective (CPCC), the Canadian Coalition for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (CCDE) and MetaMusic, Panorama actively engages in discussions related to tariffs, the review of legislative and regulatory frameworks, and any other matters affecting the rights and interests of producers.
