This week, (July 22), Toronto rapper Top5 reemerged after reportedly being stabbed after Drake’s Wireless Festival performance in London, U.K. on July 14.

On his Instagram story, the Toronto hip hop artist, born Hassan Ali, shared a photo of himself posing in front of the Eiffel Tower, revealing he was in Paris. In the new photo, Ali was pictured with a bandage wrapped around his neck.

Top5 hadn't posted anything in over four days, leaving fans unsure of his condition and whereabouts. A day after the alleged stabbing, media personality DJ Akademiks posted on Instagram that he had spoken with Ali, and the rapper was injured but would recover.

“He has a big laceration,” Akademiks said. “It was kind of deep. He lost a lot of blood. He went through surgery. He’s going to have a full recovery, that’s a fact.”

In a livestream ahead of the incident, several publications reported that Ali allegedly said, "There are no real killers in London." Videos circulated on social media of men on top of the rapper's Mercedes-Benz, as well as people trying to drag him out.

Following the alleged stabbing, the Toronto hip hop artist posted an infamous picture of U.S. President Donald Trump’s celebration after surviving an attempted assassination, and later shared a reflective quote.

“Alhamdulillah for everything in my life. The good & the bad. Some were blessings & some were lessons," read the post.

Recently, new reports claimed the Toronto underground rapper snuck multiple cellular devices into jail to film a music video in 2022.

In documents obtained by CTV News on July 16, prison guards at Maplehurst Correctional Complex in Milton, Ontario, were reportedly trying to seize various phones being used to record a music video for his track “21 Questions,” featuring G.Herbo and 6ixbuzz. Unauthorized photography is not permitted behind bars.

Ali spent three years in custody after being arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of 20-year-old accounting student Hashim Hashi — a case that was stayed at trial in September 2024, with Drake allegedly paying the rapper’s legal fees.

After beating the murder charge, Ali said in interviews that he paid a prison guard $10,000 to bring in the phone.

Earlier this year, Ali was arrested again, for charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm. His current bail conditions don’t prevent him from travelling abroad.
