LIGHTS is brightening up the airplay charts this week.

The Canadian alt-pop artist debuts on the Modern Rock chart dated April 19 with "Alive Again" at No. 40. The single comes from her upcoming LP A6 out May 2 and it's powered by an undeniably punchy new wave energy.

The track finds LIGHTS reflecting on her demons and reaching out to a stranger, seeking relief. She sings low on the verses and contrasts that with yelled choruses: "this might be the night that I die / and I don't want to die alone."

Apocalyptic visions are a theme in pop music lately. Miley Cyrus' new Alvvays-penned single, "End of the World," which enters on three Canadian airplay charts this week, imagines a lover at the end of the world.

Two decades into her career, LIGHTS still knows how to tap into the moment — "Alive Again" pulses with the desire to feel something, anything, amidst disaster.

Also on the Modern Rock chart, Canadian alt-rocker Ruby Waters hits a new peak with "Sour Patch," moving up 7-6 in its 19th week in the chart.

Over on Canada Country, a couple of Canadian artists have new entries. Dallas Smith and Alexandra Kay enter at No. 43 with "How Do You Miss Me," while the Redhill Valleys arrive at No. 55 with "One Headlight." Jade Eagleson's "Worth the Double" moves up 22-21 on that chart and enters on the All-Format chart at No. 44.

And on the CHR/Top 40 chart, London, Ontario singer-songwriter John Fellner debuts "Broke Skin" at No. 32.

At the top of the charts, Gracie Abrams' holds onto No. 1 on All-Format with "That's So True," and Canadian folk-pop singer Cameron Whitcomb hits a peak at No. 2 with "Quitter." Myles Smith's "Stargazing" reigns at No. 1 on AC, as does Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club" on CHR/Top 40.

From BLACKPINK to Running Her Own Company to ‘Boyfriend on Demand’, Jisoo Enters Her Most Mature Phase

The singer-actress is the cover star of Billboard Brasil's 21st edition.

In 2011, a teenager from Gunpo, a city 30 km from Seoul, crossed the South Korean capital to audition at YG Entertainment. The 16-year-old faced a line of hundreds of candidates, performed for the judges, and left the building without knowing the result of the audition that would change her life forever. Shortly after, Jisoo joined the agency’s exclusive trainee program. She went through countless hours of rehearsals and music, singing and dance classes over five years before debuting in BLACKPINK alongside three other girls — and the rest is history with a capital H. The group was one of the driving forces behind K-pop’s surge in global popularity over the following decade.
