The iconic singer-songwriter's protest song, released on Canada Day, debuts at No. 34 on this week's Mainstream Rock chart. Plus, Shakira and Burna Boy's "Dai Dai" climbs several airplay charts as the World Cup fever continues to rise.
Bryan Adams made a bold statement defending Canada, and it has hit the airwaves across the country.
The revered singer-songwriter enters the Billboard Canada Mainstream Rock Airplay chart at No. 36 on this week's chart, dated July 18, with his recent single "51st State." Released on Canada Day just over two weeks ago, the song is a protest anthem that is a direct response to U.S. president Donald Trump's threats on the country's sovereignty. Adams rejects the idea that Canada will ever be annexed as the 51st state.
"I wanted to write something about Canada because Canada is home," says Adams about the track, which he dedicates to the country's people, communities and values. "There is more that binds us than divides us. This is a tribute to the pride and spirit of my fellow Canadians. The rest is just noise."
As the World Cup continues to bubble up leading towards the final matchup between Spain and Argentina this weekend, the tournament's official anthem is making strides on the radio charts. The melodic and multilingual "Dai Dai" by Shakira and Burna Boy enters the top 20 of the AC Airplay chart for the first time, earning a new peak at No. 19 in its sixth week on the chart. The track is also becoming a big radio hit on the mainstream airwaves, landing its first ever appearance on the Contemporary Hit Radio/Top 40 chart at No. 36.
After scoring a viral synch moment on Off Campus, The Beaches' "Edge of the Earth" enters the CHR chart at No. 36. The energetic rock song was a standout from the Canadian rock outfit's 2025 Coachella performance, which was referenced on the viral romance show.
HUGEL also lands on the chart with "Movin' to the Sun," a mellow yet intensely groovy afro house track whose title and atmosphere perfectly complement the warm summer weather. It's not his only major chart placement this week, as his song "Jamaican (Bam Bam)," a house track that flips Sister Nancy's legendary "Bam Bam," officially becomes one of the biggest songs in Canada this week, entering the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 at No. 98.
Along with "51st State," fellow Canadians and Vaughn natives Stuck On Planet Earth debut on the Canada Mainstream Rock chart with "High Vibration," a slow-paced yet intense alternative rock cut. It's the latest radio hit for the band, who've previously dominated the airwaves with tracks like "Erase Me," which landed on Billboard Canada's 2025 Year-End Canada Mainstream Rock chart.
There are two more debuts this week, both riding off viral momentum. The Israeli-American rock band Temper City's debut single "Self Aware," a viral TikTok hit, earns its first week on the Canada Mainstream Rock chart at No. 32 and cracks the top 10 on the Canada Modern Rock chart with a new peak of No. 8 this week. Dominic Fike's 2018 acoustic earworm cut "Babydoll" rounds out the chart with a No. 40 debut after skyrocketing in streams earlier this year. The track previously reached the top 10 of the Canadian Hot 100 and No. 23 on the Canada CHR/Top 40 chart.
