New & Upcoming Canadian Albums: Wild Rivers, Sylo and Four CanRock Reissues From Record Record Label

Also out this week are new albums from Métis singer-songwriter Electric Religious, veteran composer-keyboardist Doug Wilde and shoegaze artist numb talking.

There's a summery slate of new albums from Canadian artists, including Never Better, the third full-length from hotly-tipped and Juno-nominated folk-rock trio Wild Rivers released on indie label powerhouse Nettwerk. Wild Rivers broke through in 2023 with their breakout single, “Thinking ‘Bout Love,” which is certified Gold in the U.S. and Australia and Platinum in Canada andthe recipient of over 800 million global streams. An extensive summer/fall North American tour is launching with dates at The Calgary Folk Festival (July 26), Osheaga (Aug. 2) and the Edmonton Folk Festival (Aug. 10). See the full itinerary here.


Also out this week is The Sixth Dimension, a solo album from acclaimed Toronto composer Doug Wilde, known for his work in powerhouse jazz ensemble Manteca, plus new work from numb talking and Electric Religious. A new Canadian independent imprint, Record Record Label, delivered four new reissues today including CanRock gems from The Killjoys and Pursuit of Happiness. And Sylo, an alt-R&B/pop artist from Toronto, has the new album, Dreamt That I Was.

Artists announcing new albums heading our way next month include acclaimed singer-songwriter Sam Weber, Métis pop experimentalists Ghostkeeper, Toronto pop-folk craftsman Mike Evin and rootsy solo act Falcon Jane, while Americana artist Bob Sumner, East Coast notables Contrived (with members of Wintersleep and Holy Fuck),17-year-old pop singer-songwriter Molly Annelle, much-heralded songsmith Michael Bernard Fitzgerald, Edmonton rockers The Devil's Sons and children's music legends Sharon, Lois & Bram all have Sept. releases slated.

Taylor Swift fans are trying to secure last minute tickets to the Eras Tour dates in Toronto — but many are doing it with a broken heart.

Over the last two weeks, Ticketmaster has released several batches of last-minute tickets for the six Eras Tour dates. While some have been successful in scoring seats through these drops — and are sharing their tips on TikTok — plenty of fans are losing hope.
