Concert of the Week
Burna Boy, Scotiabank Arena, Toronto — December 17-18
Burna Boy is bringing the heat to Toronto.
This week, the Nigerian superstar is set to perform two nights at Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena, in support of his eighth studio album, No Signs of Weakness, which peaked at No. 65 on the Canadian Albums chart soon after its release.
The record is a bold and introspective project as Burna Boy unpacks the many layers of himself. Recently, it made history by earning a nomination for best global music album at the 2026 Grammy Awards, making Burna Boy the first Nigerian artist to receive five career Grammy nominations in album categories. It includes various features, including one with Shaboozey — a known chart-topper in Canada.
The acclaimed project further cemented his status in the Afrofusion space, a genre that explores a rich blend of traditional Nigerian beats with global influences like Afrobeats, dancehall, reggae, pop and more. It’s a confident and versatile soundscape that has connected with listeners in Canada as Burna Boy has become synonymous with creating a unique and energetic vibe on stage.
Burna Boy's strong ethos that has secured notable ties to Canadian artists. In 2017, Burna Boy reportedly collaborated with Drake on his mixtape More Life, as the artist was sampled on “Get It Together,” featuring Jorja Smith and Black Coffee. This year, he joined Drake on stage during his three-day stint at Wireless festival, after being called the “reigning GOAT of African music.”
In February 2024, he took the stage to a sold-out Toronto crowd at Scotiabank Arena where he performed a tribute to late Punjabi-Canadian music star Sidhu Moose Wala. In 2021, Burna Boy worked with Justin Bieber on Justice’s “Loved By You,” peaking at No. 31 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100. Two years later, he featured on one of Moose Wala’s posthumous hits, “Mera Na."
Performing on a special 360-degree stage, the Afro-fusion musician is going to keep up the good vibes, despite the freezing temperatures outside.

More Canadian Concerts of the Week
Hotel Mira, Midway Music Hall, Edmonton — December 11; Vogue Theatre, Vancouver — December 13
Just a few months after two of Hotel Mira's tracks hit the Billboard Canada’s Modern Rock Airplay chart, the Vancouver-based indie-rock band are throwing themselves a self-proclaimed pity party in Western Canada as they wrap up their North American tour. The indie rockers' hometown show at Vogue Theatre has a capacity of 1,280, a step up from last year’s gig at the Commodore Ballroom, which held 990. If the group’s charting hits are any indication, the night is set to be captivating soundscape that is equal parts hypnotic and experimental.

Luna Li, Chan Centre, Vancouver — December 13
After making her late-night show debut with indie singer Lucy Dacus, Toronto-born multi-instrumentalist and singer Luna Li is set to bring her sweet sounds of baroque pop discography and instrumental prowess that skyrocketed her into TikTok virality during the pandemic to Vancouver. The Billboard Canada Women in Music 2025 artist spotlight honouree has made a name for herself locally, but continues to level up, recently making the move to Los Angeles to pursue her career.

Beverly Glenn-Copeland and Elizabeth Copeland, East End United Church, Toronto — December 13
Legendary Canadian composer and vocalist Beverly Glenn-Copeland and his life partner Elizabeth Copeland are set to release their new album Laughter in the Summer next February — but listeners get an early treat with an intimate performance at the Danforth Avenue church. It’s a special show for fans, after Glenn-Copeland — who was recently honoured by Sam Smith at Toronto’s Pink Triangle Press Awards for their contribution to the queer community — previously shared their 2024 tour, in support of 2023’s The Ones Ahead, would be his last, after revealing his dementia diagnosis.

Jonas Brothers, TD Coliseum, Hamilton — December 14; Canadian Tire Centre, Ottawa — December 15; Centre Bell, Montreal — December 17
The Jonas Brothers have spent a lot of time in Canada this year — Toronto, to be specific. In February, they performed an intimate show at Massey Hall, returned to the 6ix in August on their Greetings From Your Hometown anniversary tour and performed a rather confusing set at Game 2 of the World Series in October. Now, the sibling trio is exploring other parts of the province, bringing their nostalgic hits to the newly-opened TD Coliseum in Hamilton, followed by Ottawa’s Canadian Tire Centre. Two days later, their trek continues to Montreal. The brothers have developed a knack for bringing out surprise guests — Toronto’s show included Alessia Cara and JP Saxe – so time will tell who graces the stage this time.
