Released in 2023, the track has experienced a viral resurgence after its inclusion in Prime Video’s hockey TV drama Off Campus.
Three years after its release, The Beaches have hit the top 10 of the Billboard Canada Airplay charts with “Edge of the Earth."
In its 11th week on the chart, the group’s 2023 track has reached a new peak, climbing from No. 12 to No. 10 on the Billboard Canada Contemporary Hit Radio/Top 40 Airplay chart, dated Sept. 26. It’s quite the feat for a track released in 2023.
The renewed attention comes from a key synch in Prime Video’s Off Campus. In the second episode of the hockey romance show, the Toronto rock quartet’s 2025 Coachella performance of "Edge of the Earth" incites a key moment between two of the main characters. The show’s first season was released in May, and it quickly sparked a viral moment for The Beaches similar to the viral spark that propelled their hit “Blame Brett" in 2024.
“We are incredibly grateful to be included in the world of Off Campus,” the group told Billboard Canada back in May. “This song has such a special place in our hearts, and it's humbling to see how it's resonated with the rest of the world.”
With the song taking off, the band released a new official music video for the track. It also propelled a new radio push, which has led to the slow-burn Airplay success.
The song is now The Beaches' most popular song on streaming platforms, reaching an 888% streaming increase in week-over-week growth following the show’s May 13 premiere, according to the band’s management, Wednesday. “These four have been doing the work for over a decade; they've earned this,” said their manager, Laurie Lee Boutet.
The song is also rising on the Hot Adult Contemporary chart, currently sitting at No. 31.
The Toronto rockers have a second Airplay chart entry on Modern Rock with “Should've Known Better,” which drops from 8-9. Last year, The Beaches scored a No. 1 hit on that chart with “Last Girls at the Party,” spending 11 weeks at the top.
Cameron Whitcomb is another homegrown act that’s reaching new milestones on the Airplay charts.
This week, “Kingdom of Fear” rises to No. 8 on Hot AC, reaching a new peak. It’s already a top-10 hit on multiple Airplay charts, including All-Format (No. 3) and CHR/Top 40 (No. 6). On Modern Rock, it reached No. 9, but sits at No. 11 on the Sept. 26-dated chart.
The song leans into Whitcomb's quintessential vulnerability as the B.C. singer-songwriter details his mental health and sobriety journey. It’s an emotional reckoning for Whitcomb, and it has resonated with listeners across the continent. Back in June, it became Whitcomb’s first-ever U.S. Hot 100 entry, which he told Billboard Canada was “absolutely wild.” More recently, it became the homegrown act’s first top 3 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 and has remained in the No. 1 slot for four weeks.
“Kingdom of Fear” is on all of the Billboard Canada Airplay charts. It rises 27-21 on AC, sits at No. 15 on Canada Country and climbs from No. 37 to No. 32 on Mainstream Rock. Fellow Canadians Three Days Grace top that chart with their latest No. 1 hit, “Don’t Wanna Go Home Tonight.”
A trio of homegrown country acts are making waves on Country, including The Martin Boys with “Call You A Country Boy” at No. 39. Ten spots down, Dean Brody’s “Death Of Me” arrives at No. 49. Meanwhile, Francophone country artist Vince Lemire lands at No. 59 with “Ou Le Vent Nous Mene,” which loosely translates to “Or where the wind takes us,” in English.
At the top, Tame Impala & JENNIE’s “Dracula” is sinking its teeth into the top spot on Hot AC, dethroning Olivia Dean’s “So Easy (To Fall in Love).” Over on AC, the track reaches a new peak, climbing one spot from No. 3 to No. 2, sitting behind Taylor Swift’s “I Knew It, I Knew You.” Swift holds down the No. 1 spot on All-Format too in its 15th week on the chart.
Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” is breaking records on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, and it has extended to the Airplay charts, where the country hit is at No. 1 on CHR/Top 40. However, Olivia Rodrigo rises from 3-2, possibly threatening to reclaim the No. 1 spot. On Modern Rock, Cage the Elephant’s “Beaches in Tennessee” spends another week at the top.
