Lost Cousins: Montreal

Lost Cousins -"Montreal" (Pheromone Recordings):  This psych-rock outfit released its debut full-length In Scenery last Friday (Feb. 1), preceded by this track.

"'Montreal' is about the urge to rearrange your life for someone you love completely, but knowing you're not able to and having to explain why. "It's about balancing commitments to yourself with those of others, and trying to find a happy medium," says the band in a label press release.

It adds that "' Montreal,' one of the last songs written during a long winter in a home studio, expresses a desire to seek new surroundings and experiences." The track effectively builds in intensity, with virile guitars complemented by some keyboard fills.

The group has shows at Kingston's The Mansion (Feb. 8), Barrie's Foxx Lounge (Feb. 9), Toronto's The Great Hall (Feb. 15) and at The New Colossus Festival in NYC (March 7-8).

Slim Shady received a lyricist credit on "Yukon," which also features background vocals from 2 Chainz.

Justin Bieber returned with his R&B-leaning SWAG album on Friday (July 11). Among the surprises sifting through the 21-track LP, fans discovered that Eminem (Marshall Mathers) is listed as a composer-lyricist on “Yukon.”

However, it’s not what one might think when it comes to a traditional writer or guest vocalist credit on a particular song.
