Shawn Mendes is giving his friends and family a special invite ahead of releasing his new album, Shawn.

On November 14, the day before Shawn is set to drop, a live concert film of the record will screen at select theatres worldwide. Titled Shawn Mendes: For Friends And Family Only (A Live Concert Film) the movie will capture Mendes performing the album in entirety, as well as revealing the inspiration behind each song.

Filmed at Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, New York, the concert movie provides a unique way for fans to engage with Mendes' new record. The album marks a return to music for Mendes, his first record since 2020's Wonder and following his cancellation of the 2022 Wonder tour to focus on his mental health.

"Music really can be medicine. Two years ago I felt like I had absolutely no idea who I was. A year ago I couldn’t step into a studio without falling into complete panic. So to be here right now with 12 beautiful finished songs feels like such a gift," Mendes said upon announcing the album.

Shawn was originally expected October 18 but was recently pushed back to November 15 — possibly to allow for the concert film screenings. Singles "Why Why Why" and "Isn't That Enough" have provided a glimpse into the vulnerable, intimate mode of the album. For Friends and Family is sure to deepen that vulnerability, allowing fans to hear about Mendes' process straight from the source.

"I want tonight to just feel like light," he says in the trailer. "And effortless and fun and free."

Tickets for the screenings are on sale now.

‘Putting Ticket Scalpers on Notice’: Ontario Government Wants to Ban Resale Tickets That Exceed Face Value

The announcement arrives seven years after the Ford government scrapped part of the Ticket Sales Act in 2019, which capped ticket resale prices at 50% above the original price.

Doug Ford is coming for ticket resellers.

The Ontario Premier has announced that the provincial government plans to ban ticket resale transactions at prices exceeding face value, making it illegal for tickets to concerts, cultural, sports and other live events to be resold for more than their original cost.
