Coeur de pirate is getting into the heart of the airplay charts.

The title track off the Quebec singer’s forthcoming record, Cavale, debuts at No. 26 on the Billboard Canada AC Chart, dated July 12.

Released in April, it marks the first single from the Montreal artist, known as Béatrice Martin, since 2021’s Impossible à aimer, which won the Juno Award for Francophone Album of the Year in 2022. Ending a four-year musical hiatus, Cavale is Martin’s seventh studio album.

“Cavale” is a catchy dance pop song that details a tale of regret, one-sided and unrequited love. The track’s title translates to “escape” in English. Driven by a musical cadence that is propulsive and ethereal, the song draws on a muscular Bruce Springsteen-esque energy to depict the escape in question.

While maintaining her longstanding collaboration with Renaud Bastien, Martin enlisted musician Nicolas Subrechicot, known for his work with French singer Zaho de Sagazan, to work on the title track and album, out September 26.

This week, a handful of fruitful debuts are on the charts. Fellow Canadian Francophone singers William Cloutier and Claude Begin join Martin on Canada AC with “J'veux pas qu'tu t'en ailles,” at No. 40. On Modern Rock, Aysanabee’s “Home” arrives at No. 38, while emerging country star Dawson Gray enters Canada Country at No. 48 with “One Is Gonna Hurt.”

Ontario’s country songbirds The Reklaws' track “Never Drinking Again” crosses over to the Canada All-Format chart, debuting at No. 46, after slowly rising on the Country chart for six weeks, rising 29-21 this week.

There's some unsurprising movement at the top of the airplay charts this week. While last week saw Alex Warren at the top on the All-Format, Hot AC, CHR/Top 40 charts with "Ordinary,” he reclaims the top spot on this week’s AC chart, knocking Myles Smith's "Stargazing" down three spots to No. 4.

Elsewhere on the airplay charts, the top tracks are playing switcheroo. Shaboozey’s “Good News” hits No. 1, rising 3-1 on Country, bumping Tyler Hubbard’s “Park” down one spot, and the once-top-charting country track, Morgan Wallen’s “Just In Case,” to No. 3.

On Mainstream Rock, Papa Roach’s “Even If It Kills Me” falls to No. 4, after claiming the top spot for the past few weeks. Instead, Green Day moves up one spot, taking the No. 1 slot with “One Eyed Bastard.” In its shadow is “Navigate,” the Headstones track featuring City and Colour, which rises 4-2. The top of Modern Rock remains untouched, with The Beaches’ “Last Girls At The Party” holding onto No. 1.

The British Columbia-native was signed to Interscope Records, but was reportedly tasked to make a brand new record with all new producers.

An unreleased Carly Rae Jepsen project exists out in the music ether, according to Jonathan Simkin.

In a recent podcast episode of I Hate Simkin, the 604 Records co-founder reveals that prior to the No. 1 success of Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe,” an entire project had been made — but it didn’t make it to the masses.
