Nnamani Music Group has appointed Trinisha Browne as its new head of A&R.

The independent Nigeria-based label has announced that the Trinidad-born, Montreal-based artist will take the help at the label. Browne is the founder of Browne Records, a label distributed by Universal Music Group and Virgin Music Africa.

With experience spanning artist management, talent scouting and production coordination, Browne has bridged emerging talent with broader international networks of industry professionals by working alongside major labels.

Speaking about the appointment, Johnel Nnamani, founder of Nnamani Music Group, describes Browne’s arrival as “a huge step toward structuring the company’s A&R foundation with both creative intuition and strategic foresight.” He adds that Browne’s experience working between the Caribbean, Canada and Africa would “bring an invaluable perspective to the company’s global vision.”

Founded in Lagos, NMG has been expanding its operations to include media partnerships, distribution alliances and editorial collaborations.

Browne’s appointment comes at a time when African and Caribbean music are experiencing a rise among global audiences.

African music has seen major growth in Canada, with global artists including Burna Boy, Tyla and Rema getting big chart placements, while Canadian-African talent like TOME are repping the genre at home.

"You have to get the right people in the room, put our people in the right places," said PR strategist Fusi Hype in a panel last year. "There are no Black people at the top. How do we get our voices in those rooms?"

The shared musical roots between regions have positioned African artists as key voices in shaping the future of global pop and R&B — and Browne is at the forefront of this change.

An artist in her own right, Browne has often centered her work on helping artists navigate the current landscape of digital distribution and media exposure. She launched her namesake record label in the early 2020s and currently represents two afropop artists, Carmel Jersey and Ŕarė Virgo.

As NMG’s head of A&R, Browne is responsible for overseeing the company’s artist relations and creative development strategy. Her duties will include identifying emerging talent and shaping their artistic direction while maintaining the label’s international growth.

Browne says she is focused on creating meaningful connections between artists and audiences while maintaining a space for creative authenticity.

“The goal is to build bridges between cultures,” she noted, “and to help artists present their truth with the right structure and support.”

Arcángel Celebrates His 20th Anniversary With Big Outdoor Shows in Toronto and Montreal

The Puerto Rican urban music star brought his global La 8va Maravilla tour to Montreal's Beachclub and Toronto's RBC Amphitheatre on July 11-12 for its first two stops of the summer, performing over an hour and a half of hits spanning two decades.

Arcángel is celebrating 20 years of success. The Latin urban music legend kicked off his global trek, the La 8va Maravilla tour, with two Canadian stops, playing Montreal's Beachclub on July 11 and Toronto's RBC Amphitheatre on July 12. The Puerto Rican hitmaker treated the audience to over an hour and a half of hits including 2000s classics and recent party-starters.

Kicking off the show, Lunay delivered a charismatic opening set, showcasing his knack for melodies through tracks like "Fantasías" and "Soltera," which reached the Billboard Hot 100 in 2019 thanks to its hit remix with Bad Bunny and Daddy Yankee. The track received a vibrant roar from the crowd upon its first note, and Lunay delivered all three verses as fans sang every word.
