Jimin is the holiday gift that keeps on giving! The BTS superstar had one last surprise for fans this year when he unveiled his new single, “Closer Than This” on Friday (Dec. 22).

BigHit announced the single earlier this week via Weverse, adding that “Closer Than This” is a “heartfelt fan song that encapsulates Jimin’s genuine feelings for ARMY.”

“As we approach the final days of 2023, we hope that ‘Closer Than This,’ with its lyrics conveying Jimin’s love and affection for his fans, will bring you hope and warmth,” BigHit added.

It’s been a big year for Jimin, who dropped his EP Face in March, and the project subsequently peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. One of the EP’s singles, “Like Crazy,” topped the Billboard Hot 100 in April, becoming the singer’s first No. 1 on the chart as a soloist.

He was also a top nominee at the 2023 MAMA Awards in November with eight nods. He ultimately took home the best male artist award. “Today we received so many valuable awards today,” he wrote to fans afterward on Weverse. “Thank you very much to all ARMYs who always support and love us. We will do our best to show you better music and performances. Thank you again and I love you.”

Jimin and bandmate Jung Kook began their military service on Dec. 12, according to the Associated Press. In addition, fellow BTS members RM and V enlisted a day earlier, while Suga, Jin and J-Hope have already been serving.

The Rolling Stones Throw Back to Legendary 1977 Concert at Toronto's El Mocambo For Rollout of New Album 'Foreign Tongues'

One of the new songs “Rough & Twisted” was secretly released on vinyl on Record Store Day (April 18) under the Cockroaches alias, referencing their secret Toronto show as The Cockroaches in 1977.

The Rolling Stones are back, and there’s a Toronto connection behind their latest rollout.

Today (May 5), the British rock legends announced their forthcoming album Foreign Tongues, set for release on July 10, via an album trailer uploaded to YouTube.
