Toronto’s Afrofest Gets Cancelled Following Significantly Reduced Capacity Limits at Woodbine Park

While the park allowed 17,000 attendees in previous years, festival organizers said the city’s capacity limits decreased to 5,000. This year’s edition was intended to run from Aug. 14 to 16, but organizers shared they will return in 2027 at a new event space.

The 38th edition of Afrofest has been cancelled in Toronto.

Music Africa, the organizers of the annual African music festival, announced the news on its website and social media platforms, explaining that the cancellation was due to capacity limits at its venue, Woodbine Park. This year’s edition was slated for Aug. 14 to 16.
