The energetic song climbs 69-64, and details the fast-rising artist's sobriety journey — it’s featured on Whitcomb’s debut project, The Hard Way, which re-enters this week's Canadian Albums chart.
Cameron Whitcomb is hitting a new peak.
After nine weeks on the chart, the Canadian country singer’s track “Options” rises 69-64 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, dated Nov. 15.
"Options" is an energetic folk anthem from Whitcomb. It describes his sobriety journey, and finds Whitcomb reflecting on the various paths he could take.
"I won’t but I could / pull that bottle off that shelf / it helps me cope knowing I could be that version of myself," he sings, supported by powerful backing vocals that lift him up along the way.
The B.C.-native is having a major year. Whitcomb first broke out as a contestant on American Idol in 2022, and has since landed four straight singles on the Canadian Hot 100 – all before his debut full-length album, The Hard Way. It’s an impressive track record for a young artist at this stage.
Released in October, the record arrived at No. 28 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart, to much acclaim. While it quickly departed the charts in the following weeks, Whitcomb’s debut re-enters the ranking this week at No. 100.
Last month, he embarked on multiple sold-out shows across North America, where he is set to perform some of the album’s biggest singles, including “Quitter,” a charting success across the Billboard Canada Airplay charts, and “Options.”
A few spots below, Rosalía is serving up a new hit on the charts.
“Berghain,” the Spanish singer-songwriter’s collaboration with Icelandic star Björk and American producer-musician Yves Tumor, arrives at No. 73 on the Canadian Hot 100.
While it hasn’t hit the U.S. Billboard 200, the track debuted at No. 16 on Hot Rock Alternative Songs, No. 13 on Hot Alternative Songs, No. 22 on Billboard Global 200 and No. 14 on Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts (all dated Nov. 15) across the border.
In late October, Rosalía gave fans the first taste of her Nov. 7-released project Lux, with “Berghain.” It kicks off with a string orchestra introduction, followed by a Carmina Burana-like chorus and then Rosalía singing in an operatic soprano voice in three languages: English, Spanish and German. The orchestral masterpiece details a woman tormented by a toxic relationship.
“This album has a completely different sound than any of the projects that I’ve done before,” the Spanish singer-songwriter said in her recent Billboard cover story. “I’ve always wanted to understand other languages, learn other music, learn from others about what I don’t know. It comes from curiosity, from wanting to understand others better, and through that I can understand who I am better.”
It's a big week for Canadian artists on the charts.
Justin Bieber has two entries on the Canadian Hot 100. “Daisies” maintains its position at No. 5, while “Yukon” drops 63-66. Tate McRae notches three chart placements, including her feature on Morgan Wallen’s “What I Want” at No. 13, followed by “Tit for Tat, climbing 22-20, and the Grammy-nominated “Just Keep Watching” at No. 44.
Josh Ross’s country hit “Hate How You Look” rises 50-49, while fellow country stars, Nate Haller and Tenille Townes, climb 85-79 with “Backfire.” Airplay chart star Sofia Camara sits at No. 56 with “Girls Like You — her debut on the charts. Jamie Fine’s “homesick” moves up 17 spots to No. 76, while Chris Grey, R3BEL & Kryd drop 75-77 with their collab “Let The World Burn (Hoodtrap / Mylancore Remix).”
Daniel Caesar’s “Who Knows” hits No. 82, while Drake and Central Cee's “Which One” drops 79-83. Drake’s solo hit “What Did I Miss” moves up 97-94. Montreal pop singer Alicia Moffet’s “Lay Your Light” climbs 12 spots to No. 84, and Punjabi-Canadian hitmaker Karan Aujla notches two spots in the top 90, including “For A Reason” at No. 97 and “Boyfriend” at No. 99 — they’re both tracks on his recent record-breaking project, P-Pop Culture.
At the top, Taylor Swift is dominating the charts as The Life of a Showgirl and single “The Fate of Ophelia” sit at No. 1 for their respective fifth weeks on the Canadian Albums and Canadian Hot 100 charts.
