In the precious few weeks left of summer, Canadian artists have come out with some exciting new releases this week.

That includes Indigenous duo Ghostkeeper (recently part of Billboard Fresh Sounds Canada), Montreal indie rockers The Sound of Eddy, roots songsmith Ben Arsenault, the adventurous collaborative project of Quatuor Bozzini, junctQín keyboard collective4, Rebecca Bruton and Jason Doell, veteran singer-songwriter Peter Foldy and jazz guitarist-composer Greg Amiraul.

A number of acclaimed Canadian artists have also announced new albums or EPs coming out soon, including new tastes.

Internationally acclaimed electronic artist Caribou (a.k.a. Dan Snaith) will deliver his new effort, Honey, on Merge Records on October 4. Now a veteran, the Polaris Prize and Juno Award winner and multiple Grammy nominee retains a deep passion for creativity, explaining in a bio that "One thing that hasn’t changed for me from the very beginning is a manic curiosity of seeing what I can make out of sound... The chance of making something new and exciting is still as exhilarating as ever, and as much fun as ever." Word is the new album showcases the two personas of Snaith: the exploratory Caribou and the dancefloor-friendly Daphni.

Highly-respected Toronto singer-songwriter Jennifer Castle also announced a new album this week after a recent new song featured on the acclaimed TV show The Bear. Her seventh record, Camelot comes out on Nov. 1 via Paradise of Bachelors and Solstice Radio, and is co-produced by her longtime collaborator Jeff McMurrich. Castle is an expressive and ambitious lyricist, and her bio notes that Camelot “distills everyday experience into art and art into faith, subliming terrestrial concerns into sublime celestial prayers to Mother Nature, and to the unfolding process of perfecting imperfection in one’s own nature.” Her exquisitely pure vocals are supported by a core trio, two backing vocalists, guest guitarists (including Cass McCombs) and renowned musician Owen Pallett (Hidden Cameras), who arranged the strings for Estonia’s FAMES Skopje Studio Orchestra.

Lubalin, a Montreal artist and viral social media personality who collaborated with Billboard Canada Women of the Year Charlotte Cardin as a co-writer and co-producer on a number of songs from her breakout album 99 Nights, has just announced a new album of his own. haha, no worries comes out December 6 on Cult Nation, and its new single "bullet time" was actually originally written for Cardin but didn't quite fit her sound at the time. It's an intriguing mix of pop hooks and adventurous production, with some drum & bass inspiration.

Other announcements include reunited '90s hard rock band Sven Gali, roots songsmith Kim Beggs, indie rockers Jane's Party and Ron Sexsmith, who'll be reissuing two gems from his large catalogue.

Sum 41 Scores Second Alternative Airplay No. 1 This Year With ‘Dopamine’

The band's second and third No. 1s have led over two decades after its first in 2001.

After earning its first No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart in over two decades earlier this year, Sum 41 scores another as “Dopamine” rises a spot to No. 1 on the Nov. 30-dated survey.

The song follows the two-week Alternative Airplay command for “Landmines” in March. The latter led 22 years, five months and three weeks after Sum 41’s first No. 1, “Fat Lip,” in August 2001, rewriting the record for the longest break between rulers for an act in the chart’s 36-year history. It shattered the previous best test of patience, held by The Killers, who waited 13 years and six months between the reigns of “When You Were Young” in 2006 and “Caution” in 2020.
