Read on for a full calendar of new and upcoming releases and the album of the week.

Album of the Week: Caribou, Honey

One of Canada's most internationally-acclaimed electronic producers of the last multiple decades, Dan Snaith (aka Caribou) releases his new album Honey, and it is a sterling addition to his rich catalogue.

"Volume" is a beat-heavy track inspired by M|A|R|R|S’ 1987 hit classic "Pump Up The Volume" (the first electronic song Snaith heard), while the latter has a mellow and beguiling groove. Other new tunes like "Dear Life," "Got To Change" and the title track are clearly aimed at the dancefloors, and are executed with typical finesse. Another album highlight, "Campfire," features many different vocal textures in its short (2:23) duration. Of note: Honey features Snaith experimenting with AI to manipulate his voice. "I found it impossible to resist trying it, and once I’d tried it, it was impossible to look away," he explains. As has been pointed out, this is the Caribou album that most closely resembles the work of Daphni, Snaith's more upbeat and danceable persona.

Caribou celebrated the release of Honey by playing a DJ set in Barcelona last night (Oct. 3). He has shows in Japan next week, followed by Amsterdam, prior to starting an extensive North American tour that includes dates in Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. The fact that he can play Toronto shows at both Massey Hall (Nov. 23) and History (Nov. 24) testifies to both his popularity and versatility in being able to excel in both theatre and large club settings. Sum 41 Scores Second Alternative Airplay No. 1 This Year With ‘Dopamine’

The band's second and third No. 1s have led over two decades after its first in 2001.

After earning its first No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart in over two decades earlier this year, Sum 41 scores another as “Dopamine” rises a spot to No. 1 on the Nov. 30-dated survey.

The song follows the two-week Alternative Airplay command for “Landmines” in March. The latter led 22 years, five months and three weeks after Sum 41’s first No. 1, “Fat Lip,” in August 2001, rewriting the record for the longest break between rulers for an act in the chart’s 36-year history. It shattered the previous best test of patience, held by The Killers, who waited 13 years and six months between the reigns of “When You Were Young” in 2006 and “Caution” in 2020.
