Toronto-based marketing, branding and artist development company Lola Media Group has launched a new mentoring program to train the next generation of female professionals in the music industry, Billboard reported Monday.

Titled the Girl Connected Mentorship Program, the initiative will connect 20 Toronto-based women with music industry executives in their area of interest for a year-long mentorship.

According to the trade publication, the participants were chosen by Lola Media Group CEO Lola Plaku, who is credited as having worked with artists including French Montana, The Weeknd, Kehlani, Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky and Big Sean.

Girl Connected's main focus is the business of music, including administration, event production, touring, public relations, brand building, and digital marketing.. The program will provide up to 20 aspiring female professionals the chance to participate in a year-long one-on-one mentorship "with an industry-giant" based on their field of interest, professional ambitions and goals.

Applicants will be selected based on defining values of resiliency, integrity, authenticity and collaboration.

Once selected mentees will be required to attend quarterly meetings with their mentors where they will be able to communicate any questions or concerns about their field, discuss projects, strategy and complete appropriate evaluations. Mentees will also have the opportunity to work and share space on a weekly basis with the Girl Connected program leader to ensure they are provided with the tools needed to succeed. Plaku will also be available throughout the process for additional feedback, overview, and program support to all mentees.
