The FYI team is taking a break for the Labour Day weekend and will return with a newsletter edition on Wednesday, Sept. 5. Late breaking news will, of course, be posted on the website between then and now. For those interested, David Farrell is off to Quebec to visit with JP Guilbert and his wife Lorna, longstanding residents in St. Maarten who have returned home after a hurricane devastated the island and blew their dockside restaurant to kingdom come.

The tournament "brings the world together in a way nothing else can," the pop star said in a statement.

Surprise! Justin Bieber is joining BTS, Shakira and Madonna as a co-headliner of the first-of-its-kind FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show, as announced by the soccer association on Wednesday (July 8).

In his first major performance since headlining Coachella in April, the Canadian pop star will take the stage alongside the previously announced artists at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., midway through the World Clup finale on July 19. It’ll mark the first time FIFA has organized a Super Bowl-esque musical showcase for halftime, which will support its Global Citizen Education Fund for expanding access to quality education and soccer for kids all over the world.
