The FYI team is taking a break for the Labour Day weekend and will return with a newsletter edition on Wednesday, Sept. 5. Late breaking news will, of course, be posted on the website between then and now. For those interested, David Farrell is off to Quebec to visit with JP Guilbert and his wife Lorna, longstanding residents in St. Maarten who have returned home after a hurricane devastated the island and blew their dockside restaurant to kingdom come.

Canadian folk singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Taylor Kirk has passed away at the age of 44.

Kirk served as the main singer and songwriter for the gothic folk band Timber Timbre — a project that began as a solo endeavor and evolved into a collaborative band.
