The long holiday weekend in the U.S. traditionally slows the album release calendar, and 2025 is no exception to that. But there is some good news for albums coming later this summer and fall.

Canadian icon Joni Mitchell has just announced she will be revisiting her life in jazz with a brand new compilation box set, Joni’s Jazz, set to be released on September 5.

Described as a “passion project years in the making,” Joni’s Jazz features 61 songs selected by Mitchell which speak to the influence of jazz on her artistry. The collection will be released as a 8 LP vinyl box set and 4 CD collection as well as on all streaming platforms. It includes studio recordings, live performances, rare alternate takes and two previously unreleased demos recorded in 1980. The collection also features collaborations with jazz greats such as Jaco Pastorius, Herbie Hancock, Charles Mingus and Wayne Shorter, confirming the great peer respect she enjoyed in the jazz world.
