There's a new slate of new Canadian music releases out this week, and we're adding them to our ongoing calendar of new and upcoming albums.

Prominent artists with new releases out this week include the adventurous Montreal duo of Sarah Pagé and Patrick Graham, veteran jazz stylist Holly Cole, acclaimed Juno-nominated singer-songwriter Tariq, Ottawa-based blues-rock combo Murray Kinsley & Wicked Grin and Quebec singer-songwriter Lou-Adriane Cassidy(a SOCAN Songwriting Prize nominee).


Harpist Sarah Pagé (The Barr Brothers) and percussionist Patrick Graham release their collaborative instrumental album Littoral States via Envision Records. The record employs a unique array of exotic instruments from around the globe. To celebrate the release, the duo has booked a three-stop tour, including a launch show in Montreal on Jan. 26 at La Sala Rossa Montreal, alongside performances in Ottawa and Vancouver. Platinum-selling Canadian jazz star Holly Cole releases her 13th album, Dark Moon, today. The self-produced effort features her longtime A-list ensemble (Aaron Davis, George Koller, Davide Direnzo and John Johnson) alongside star guests Kevin Breit, Howard Levy (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones) and The Good Lovelies. Expect a mix of new and old American standards.

Artists recently announcing upcoming album release dates include Housewife (aka singer-songwriter Brighid Fry), roots songsmith Braden Lam, Juno-nominated Indigenous singer-fiddle player Morgan Toney, rock duo cleopatrick and Edmonton punk rockers Real Sickies.

Toronto Raptors Celebrate Director X With a Music Video Shoot at Scotiabank Arena During a Game

Canada's only NBA franchise team honoured a local hero this week with a G.O.A.T. Night (greatest of all Toronto) celebration dedicated to the influential music video director.

Director X has been named the G.O.A.T. by his hometown team.

The Toronto music video director, whose work on videos like Drake's "Hotline Bling" and Rihanna's "Work" has had a major impact on Canadian music culture, was celebrated this week at a Toronto Raptors NBA game.
