By FYI Staff

Bob Lefsetz and Jason Flom are on a speaking tour and land in Toronto on October 14 at The Phoenix Concert Theatre.

Lefsetz is the author of “The Lefsetz Letter.” Famous for being beholden to no one and speaking his mind, the music biz guru addresses the issues that are at the core of the music business: downloading, copy protection, pricing and the music itself.

Jason Flom is the current Chief Executive Officer of Lava Records. He has served, at times, as the Chairman and CEO of Atlantic Records, Virgin Records, and the Capitol Music Group. In 1995, Flom founded Lava Records. He is also a philanthropist who has supported and championed various political and social causes. He is the host of the podcast Wrongful Conviction with Jason Flom.

Flom is also one of the most successful A&R people of all time, having signed everybody from Kid Rock to Katy Perry, Tori Amos to Lorde and now Greta Van Fleet.

"The Lefsetz Letter" is read by a who’s who in the music business, from Michael Rapino to Drake, from Irving Azoff to Steven Tyler. Come see these two debate the issues that matter in today’s cacophonous music business world, from getting signed, to marketing and distribution. Expect a no-holds-barred conversation where names are named and foibles and successes are illuminated. If you want to hear how the music business really works, The Phoenix on the 14th is the place to be.

In the first of our special NXNE digital covers, the two Canadian electronic music visionaries get deep into their musical philosophies, what they've learned from each other, and their ongoing creative collaboration as REZZMAU5.

REZZMAU5 – the collaboration between REZZ and deadmau5 – shouldn’t work as well as it does.

“We produce in two totally different ways,” says Joel Zimmerman, the man behind deadmau5. “I am so old school and she is so new school.”
