Bad Bunny Mentions Canada During Super Bowl Halftime Performance: Fans React
At the end of the Puerto Rican hitmaker’s historic 13-minute set, he mentioned every country in the Americas, ending with Canada. And since Canadians love nothing more than to be noticed, social media filled with reactions.

On Sunday (Feb. 9), Bad Bunny had a special shoutout to Canada in his Super Bowl halftime show.
As the Puerto Rican singer, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, ignited the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., he closed out his colourful, lively performance with an important message.
“God Bless America,” he said before shouting out every country in the Americas from south to north, ending with Canada.
“Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Haiti, United States, Canada.”
He continued: “And my motherland, mi patria, Puerto Rico, seguimos aquí,” which translates to "My homeland, Puerto Rico, we are still here."

Holding a football that read, "Together, we are all America,” Bad Bunny left the field as the message, "The only thing more powerful than hate is love,” was shown on the jumbotron. It was a moving moment that elicited cheers in the stadium and on the internet.
The moment was a message of unity, to remove distinctions between "America" and welcome all. But Canadians love getting a mention, and many fans shared their reactions.
“BAD BUNNY IS CANADA DOWN,” one user wrote on X. It was a reference to Tate McRae’s response to fans — “y’all know I’m Canada down" — after being criticized for appearing in a Team USA Olympics ad.A fellow X user said, “From Heated Rivalry being a massive success to Bad Bunny giving Canada a shoutout during the Halftime Show, Canada is on a generational run right now,” with another commenting that it started back in October, when the Toronto Blue Jays made it to the World Series.
“Whoever bet on Bad Bunny giving Canada a shout out during the half time show is now a trillionaire,” wrote Courtney Theriault on X.
As Bad Bunny mentioned the country’s name, he charmingly elongated the pronunciation, which some users took note of.
“All of Canada when Bad Bunny yelled CANADAAAA,” Rachel Gilmore wrote, adding a meme-worthy photo of Prime Minister Mark Carney.

On TikTok, one user jokingly said it’s how she’ll pronounce the country’s name moving forward: “The only way I’m saying from now on Benito,” she wrote.

According to CBS, Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl Halftime show was the most-watched set of all time, with early figures showing that over 135 million viewers tuned in.
The singer’s 13-minute performance featured multiple star-studded appearances, including Lady Gaga, who performed a rendition of her chart-topping hit “Die With A Smile” over a vibrant salsa rhythm and Ricky Martin, putting a spin on “Lo Que Pasó en Hawaii,” a hit on Bad Bunny’s Grammy-winning album, Debí Tirar Más Fotos, which made him the first artist to win album of the year with an all-Spanish-language record.
While he doesn’t have plans to return to Canada, Bad Bunny reflected on one of his favourite memories of the country in his Billboard global cover story — eating pancakes. “I swear I want to go back to Canada just for those pancakes,” he said.
