Here Are The Best Super Bowl Ads Canadians Might Have Missed

Now that the dust has settled, the biggest Super Bowl ads have made their way online, including many of the biggest names in music.

Here Are The Best Super Bowl Ads Canadians Might Have Missed

Now that the Super Bowl is finished, the Kelce brothers and Taylor Swift have (maybe) finished celebrating and the Usher halftime show has been fully processed, there’s one last thing for Canadians to catch up on: the ads.

Super Bowl ads have become more than sales pitches. They’ve become viral content on their own, with teasers often dropping days or weeks before the big game. They can herald a surprise drop of new music, or push a controversial political or religious message. In recent years, they also star many of the biggest names in music and pop culture.

While many of them don’t air in Canada, they’ve all made their way to YouTube or social media, and we’ve rounded up some of the biggest ones below.

Canadians Gerry Dee and Amrit Kaur Re-Enact American Ads for Doritos Canada

Doritos knew Canadians wouldn’t be able to see many of the biggest ads on their TV screens, so they live re-enacted them – sort of. You won’t get mentions of the actual brands, but you will know there are celebrities in them. Maybe just not which. These are a fun way to relive the gist of the ads before you watch them all below. Find them all at @doritosca.

Jenny Ortega Stars in Doritos’ Battle for Dinamita

Actor Jenna Ortega is the star of this spot for Doritos’ own Dinamita flavour, but the real star are the two abuelas – or grandmothers – she shares the screen with. Dina (Patricia Mauceri) and Mita (Olivia Negron) go on an epic action movie quest for the last bag of Dinamita at the store, all while Ortega is none the wiser.

Beyoncé Breaks The Internet For Verizon

After weeks of teasing from the company, Verizon dropped this ad featuring Beyoncé attempting to break Verizon, like she does the internet, with a series of increasingly bigger stunts. But playing on top of the Sphere couldn’t compare to her real-life break the internet moment that followed, dropping two new songs and announcing a new country album.

Usher, Victoria Beckham and Jelly Roll Create Memories For Uber Eats

To remember something, you have to forget something else. That’s the simple premise for this Uber Eats ad, which stars a slew of celebrities each forgetting something crucial about themselves. Jennifer Anniston forgets her Friends co-star, Jelly Roll forgets he has face tattoos, Victoria Beckham and her husband struggle to remember the name of her old girl group. Usher even forgets he’s supposed to perform at halftime.

Usher Goes Missing In This Apple Ad

Unlike the Uber Eats ad, Usher is not in this ad for Apple, the sponsor of the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Instead, rapper Ludacris has an uncomfortable FaceTime with Apple CEO Tim Cook telling him he’s lost the singer.

Ben Affleck Becomes A Rapper for Dunkin’

Affleck ignores the advice of Jack Harlow and recruits Fat Joe, Matt Damon and Tom Brady to perform for an audience that includes his significant other J. Lo. It goes about as well as you’d expect.

Post Malone Is a Wish Come True in Bud Light Ad

Post Malone is the big name in this Bud Light ad, which is a fun and quick spot featuring the Bud Light Genie granting people’s beer commercial-style wishes. Those include concerts, football star best friends, and cameo-laden trips to a UFC fight.

Ice Spice Throws Shade at Her Ex in Starry Ad

This ad, starring breakout rapper Ice Spice, comes as close to calling out its lemon-lime competition without outright saying it. That gives a nice little bite to an ad with a distinctive animation style and at least one jump scare.

Meghan Trainor, Judge Judy and a Mini-Suits Reunion for e.l.f Cosmetics

Judge Judy becomes Judge Beauty in this courtroom style ad that features both the “All About That Bass” singer and a plaintiff and defendant played by Suits‘ Rick Hoffman and Gina Torres. That almost qualifies as Canadian content.

Addison Rae Cameos in NERDS ‘80s Dance Scene

Colourful characters take centre stage in this recreation of an iconic dance scene from Flashdance. But it’s a much more modern name known for her dance moves that gets the big spotlight at the end: TikToker-turned-singer-actor Addison Rae.

Lainey Wilson Gets Chill for Coors Light

Like Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson is doing double duty this Super Bowl. This time, the country singer stars with LL Cool J in a big-budget train-themed beer commercial.

Google Pixel Shows The Accessible Promise of AI Photography

AI is both a controversial flashpoint in the music industry and a promise for a techno-utopian future, and it’s a big theme for this year’s slate of Super Bowl ads. This Google Pixel ad shows the capabilities of guided frame for photos by starring a sight-impaired man named Javier through the big moments of his life. This one tugs at the heartstrings.

Aubrey Plaza Deadpans Her Way Through Mountain Dew Baja Blast Spot

Aubrey Plaza’s unparalleled deadpan is the star of this Mountain Dew commercial, which shows her “having a blast” in various over-the-top situations where she barely cracks a smile. That is, until she meets up with her old Parks & Recreation co-star Nick Offerman.

Lionel Messi Plays a Different Kind of Football for Michelin Ultra

Soccer star Messi goes on a beachside dribble past other celebrities on his way to the bar – from former NFLer Dan Marino to actor Jason Sudeikis, who pops up for just long enough for you to think “oh yeah, Ted Lasso.”

Jason Kelce Gets Hot for Frank’s Red Hot

Jason Kelce has been trying to rival Taylor Swift for most eye-catching member of the Travis Kelce cheering section since he played his last football game. Now, the older Kelce brother has a series of funny spots for Frank’s Red Hot. Watch Jason put it on everything, from Oreos to pop, all while showing off his big personality.
