It’s official: Tate McRae is a Drake fan.

Yesterday (August 20), during a soundcheck for her second night in Toronto on the Miss Possessive World Tour, McRae showed love for the 6ix god, performing his track “Shot For Me."

The song, from 2011’s Take Care, is a downtempo moment on the rapper’s album, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart after its release.

“Had to do a cover of shot for me by drake in Toronto,” McRae shared on TikTok. Swapping out the beat for an acoustic guitar, her rendition is even more sombre than Drake’s original.

Fans were quick to praise McRae’s cover in the comments. “Drake/Tate collab would be iconic,” one shared. “Didn’t know i needed this..i love it,” wrote another. One fan couldn’t contain their excitement: “MY TWO WORLDS COLLIDED,” they wrote in all-caps. Another commented: “That’s the perfect song for Toronto vibes! You nailed it!”

Drake reciprocated the love, sharing the clip to his Instagram story, with two emojis: "😮💨 🤩"

Earlier this year, he shouted out the Calgary native on "Small Town Fame," off his collaborative album with PartyNextDoor, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U . "B---h, I feel like Tate McRae/Vanilla ice and white h--s, straight cake, uh," he rapped.

This week, McRae continues a string of Canadian shows, including Ottawa’s Canadian Tire Centre on August 22 and Montreal’s Bell Centre on August 23.

Drake isn’t the first Canadian artist McRae has covered during soundcheck. Earlier this month, she performed two tracks from Justin Bieber’s Swag in Vancouver — “Yukon” on night one, and “Walking Away” on night two.
