After a successful 2023 event, Tkaronto Music Festival returns in 2024, celebrating Indigenous musical excellence with three nights of live music, November 7-9, at the TD Music Hall inside Massey Hall in Toronto.

Tkaronto Music Festival(#TKMF2024)is described as Turtle Island’s premiere music festival putting the spotlight on Indigenous talent, and the just-revealed 2024 lineup is an impressive and diverse one.

TKMF Director Cynthia Lickers-Sage says that "This year’s festival represents an important step in our organization’s goal to put Indigenous artists on the main stage.”

It is headed by the groundbreaking Haudenosaunee DJ duo The Halluci Nation (formerly A Tribe Called Red). Another headliner is Indigenous blues duo Blue Moon Marquee, a Juno and Maple Blues Award Award winner for their last album, Scream, Holler & Howl. On Sept. 27, BMM release a new record, New Orleans Sessions.

Also featured are Sebastian Gaskin, a rapidly-emerging Cree artist whose electronica meets R&B compositions have earned critical acclaim and a Western Canadian Music Award, and Haida/Cree rock singer/songwriter/guitarist Kristi Lane Sinclair. Rounding out the lineup are Kaeley Jade, an award-winning Métis singer-songwriter-actor from Edmonton, MR SAUGA (aka Michi Saagiig singer-songwriter Jordan Jamieson), Winnipeg hip-hop artist STUN and Toronto-based singer-songwriter Evan Redsky.

A mystery headliner is also slated for the final night, Nov. 9. With so many Indigenous artists belatedly but deservedly recognized in the country in recent years, there is no shortage of prominent names who could fit this ‘mystery headliner’ slot.

Tkaronto Music Festival will also include the TKMF Vendor Marketplace, featuring Indigenous arts, crafts, clothing and more on November 9.

Last year's Tkaronto Music Festival ran from June 21-24 at Stackt Market in Toronto, featuring Susan Aglukark, Nimkii Osawamick, Plex, TheRa11n, Amanda Rheaume and more.

Sum 41 Scores Second Alternative Airplay No. 1 This Year With ‘Dopamine’

The band's second and third No. 1s have led over two decades after its first in 2001.

After earning its first No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart in over two decades earlier this year, Sum 41 scores another as “Dopamine” rises a spot to No. 1 on the Nov. 30-dated survey.

The song follows the two-week Alternative Airplay command for “Landmines” in March. The latter led 22 years, five months and three weeks after Sum 41’s first No. 1, “Fat Lip,” in August 2001, rewriting the record for the longest break between rulers for an act in the chart’s 36-year history. It shattered the previous best test of patience, held by The Killers, who waited 13 years and six months between the reigns of “When You Were Young” in 2006 and “Caution” in 2020.
