Here is this week's Nielsen Market Watch report which features Canadian music stats for the current week and YTD with comparisons to last year. This chart is published every Tuesday. The abbreviation "TEA" is a term used to describe the sale of music downloads or singles. A track equivalent album is equal to 10 tracks, or 10 songs.
From Bieber’s Swag to Tate McRae’s first-ever Grammy nomination, read on for all of the Canadian Grammy nominees, including PARTYNEXTDOOR & Drake, Joni Mitchell, Spiritbox and Laila Biali.
Canadian artists are scoring major 2026 Grammy nominations.
Some of the country’s biggest talents, including Justin Bieber, Tate McRae and Kaytranada, are heading to music’s biggest night next February, per this morning’s (Nov. 7) announcement.
Bieber racks up four nominations for his chart-topping Swag project, including album of the year, pop vocal album, pop solo performance for “Daisies,” and best R&B performance for “Yukon.”
One of Bieber’s collaborators on the project, Tobias Jesso Jr., is nominated for songwriter of the year. The Billboard Canada Non-Performing Songwriter 2024 nominee is praised for collaborations with Dijon, Bon Iver, Haim, Miley Cyrus and newcomer Olivia Dean.
McRae earns her first-ever Grammy nomination in the best dance pop recording category for the F1® The Movie hit “Just Keep Watching.” The track has made waves on the Canadian Hot 100, peaking at No. 16. It’s hard to believe it’s her first.
Montreal producer Kaytranada fared well in the nominations, picking up best dance/electronic recording for "Space Invader" and best remixed recording for Mariah Carey’s 2005 track “Don’t Forget Us.” After ending his boycott of the Grammys last year, Drake’s collaboration with PARTYNEXTDOOR, “Somebody Loves Me,” notches a spot for best melodic rap performance.
Canadian metal group Spiritbox received a nomination for best metal performance for the third straight year, this time with "Soft Spine." Canadian jazz singer Laila Biali’s Wintersongs is nominated for best traditional pop vocal album, while conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin has two nominations for his opera work and singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell scores a nomination for best historical album.
In the technical categories, Canadian engineer Serban Ghenea receives the highest number of Canadian nods — a total of six nominations, for his work with pop stars including Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga and Rosé and Bruno Mars. Sitting at five nominations is producer Cirkut. The Halifax native is credited on projects with Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga and fellow Canadian The Weeknd, to name a few. Last year, he was recognized in two categories for work on Charli XCX's Brat.
