The Canadian Entertainment Charity (CEC) Golf Classic returned to Toronto last month and saw nationwide growth in the launch of two new golf tournaments, garnering support from the entertainment industries in Vancouver and Montreal and collectively raising $200K for the Unison Benevolent Fund that offers emergency relief benefits and counseling to people in crisis who are part of the music industry.

"The golf tournaments this year were an astounding success!” says Amanda Power, Executive Director of Unison Benevolent Fund, “We were so thrilled to see the entertainment industries come together in three different cities to support their peers in the music community. It was amazing to see the tournaments launch in Vancouver and Montreal for the first time. We want to thank UP Cannabis, and all our generous sponsors for making this event possible.”

Canadian cannabis company Up Cannabis partnered with the charity as the Presenting Sponsor of the tournaments to grow their mission of building community and providing health and wellness resources to those who need it.

“We are delighted to have played a part supporting this year’s charity golf tournaments,” says Up Cannabis CEO Jay Wilgar. “Helping raise funds for Canada’s music community is a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. We stand proudly alongside Unison Benevolent Fund in touting the tournaments’ success.”

Organized by Brian Huston, Golf Tournament General Manager, and the Golf4Good Committee, the three tournaments brought 350 players to the golf courses in support of Unison. The official kick-off in Toronto signalled the beginning of Unison’s partnership with UP, where Chief Commercial Officer Peter Hwang gifted the organization with a stunning red electric guitar and a donation of $150,000 to help grow Unison’s counselling, health and wellness programs.

Sponsors included UP Cannabis, Slaight Music, Bell Media, Air Canada Centre, Black Box BMG, Cadence Music Group, Canadian Music Week, CMRRA, Dine Alone Records, Entertainment One, Juno Awards London 2019, Live Nation, Mercedes-Benz, Metalworks Studios, Molson Coors, Music Canada, Newcap Radio, Nielsen, ole, RBC, RGK and Open Road Recordings, Rogers Arena, SOCAN, Sony Music Canada, Taylor Oballa Murray Leylend LLP, Ted Reader, The Feldman Agency, The Phoenix Concert Theatre, Ticketmaster, Universal Music Group, and Warner Music Canada.

NXNE 2026: Dan + Shay Dazzle an Intimate Crowd at Billboard Canada THE STAGE at The Opera House

The country duo's hit-filled set and strong rapport with the crowd made this show an NXNE highlight

It was quite a weekend for hitmaking American country duo Dan + Shay. It began on Friday when they sang the U.S. national anthem at the opening ceremony of the World Cup and concluded on Sunday night (June 14) with a triumphant Billboard Canada THE STAGE performance at the Opera House at NXNE in Toronto.

Given the Grammy-winning pair's status as a genuine arena act, their appearance at the more intimate Opera House gave the show a special air of occasion. Dan + Shay gave it their all, to rapturous response. Accompanied by eye-pleasing visuals on the screen behind and a clear sound mix, they delivered a set that featured their big hits, beginning with ''10,000 Hours,'' their smash collab with Justin Bieber, some newer material and a killer cover.
