The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) and Slaight Music have announced the artists selected for the 2019/2020 Allan Slaight Juno Master Class: AIZA, Fintan and Sam Lynch. These emerging musicians, chosen by a Super Jury of music industry notables, will join Shopé the 2019 winner of CBC Music Searchlight competition, and receive crucial tools to help them become “Juno ready”.

The four artists will be part of a customized week-long program hosted by Canada's Music Incubator at Coalition Music to hone their craft and develop their music careers through networking and mentorship from Canadian music industry leaders. The artists will then get to attend Juno Week 2020 and the 2020 Juno Awards in Saskatoon, SK.

They will have a performance opportunity at Junofest Presented by CBC Music, a two-day music festival leading up to the Awards Broadcast, and one artist will be invited to perform at the Juno Gala Dinner & Awards Presented by Music Canada. Finally, the group will be featured in exclusive content that will run on JunoTV.ca as well as receiving studio time at Slaight Music Recording

Underscoring their industry-leading commitment to emerging artists and building on the program's successful first five years, Slaight Music has signed on as title partner for an additional four years, through to 2024. Graduate of the 2018/2019 Allan Slaight Juno Master Class, Haviah Mighty, was recently named the winner of the 2019 Polaris Music Prize for her album, 13th Floor.

“We are very pleased with what the Allan Slaight Juno Master Class has accomplished to date and happy to announce this talented group of artists as the next wave of Canadian musical talent,” said Derrick Ross, President of Slaight Music.

“I would like to commend and thank the CARAS team for all their hard work and dedication in ensuring this program’s success. We are seeing the impact it is having on artists that have participated, and I am excited to announce that we have extended this program for another four years,” said Gary Slaight, President & CEO, Slaight Communications.

“It’s very rewarding to see how this mentorship program has helped shape and elevate Canadian talent. I’m looking forward to watching these artists create a lasting impact on the Canadian and global music scene,” said Allan Reid, President and CEO, CARAS/The Juno Awards & MusiCounts. “We are also thrilled to be partnering with Slaight Music for another four years, helping support Canadian music through the Allan Slaight Juno Master Class.”

Drizzy also played an unreleased solo track as well as a freestyle on Thursday night (Sept. 4).

Drake returned with episode three of Iceman on Thursday night (Sept. 4), which found the 6 God previewing a solo cut as well as collabs with YEAT and Cash Cobain. Cash, who initially worked with Drizzy on 2023’s For All the Dogs, returns to the Iceman fold for “Somebody Loves Me, Pt. 2,” a remix to Drake and PartyNextDoor’s $ome $exy $ongs 4 U hit from earlier this year.

In the ep, Drake walks through an Italian market and hops on the phone with YEAT before jumping into his car to preview a collab with his “IDGAF” collaborator and an emerging artist Drake has taken a liking to: Julia Wolf.
