Taylor Swift’s ‘August,’ ‘Father Figure’ & Other Songs Removed From Trump-Related TikTok Posts
A White House TikTok featuring "The Fate of Ophelia" has also been removed.
Taylor Swift’s song “August” has been removed from a TikTok post by an account affiliated with President Donald Trump.
Earlier this week, Team Trump — launched during Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign — shared an edited clip of Donald and Melania Trump watching a fireworks show with Swift’s 2020 Folklore track “August” playing in the background. Text over the video read, “Mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president.”
The post’s caption added, “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.”
On Friday (Aug. 7), TikTok users in the U.S. noticed that “August” had been removed from the post. A message on the video reads, “This sound isn’t available.”
The comments section quickly filled with reactions to the song’s removal. “TAYLOR REMOVING THE AUDIO QUEEEEEEN,” one user wrote. Another commented, “sorry what was that? cant hear the song.” A third added, “She removed it, clocked you guys.”
The Team Trump TikTok account currently has 14 million followers and has regularly posted videos since Trump was elected to a second term.
“August” isn’t the only Swift song that has disappeared from a Team Trump post. Another clip featuring the singer’s 2025 hit “Father Figure,” which was posted in November of that year, is no longer available, according to Variety. A 2025 video on the White House’s official TikTok account featuring her song “The Fate of Ophelia” has also disappeared.
Swift had not publicly commented on the situation at press time.
After the songs were removed, the Team Trump account further trolled Swift by using a live performance version of the title track from her 2012 album, Red. The post features Red-styled cover art with a mock-up of Trump’s profile over the letters and a fake “Red (Trump’s Version)” playlist. Sound was not available on the post as of publication.
“Did you know Taylor Swift wrote a whole album about the color of the Republican Party,” the post’s caption reads.
Trump has been critical of Swift since 2018, with tensions escalating after the singer endorsed Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election. Trump later responded by posting, “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on Truth Social.
Following Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding on July 4, the White House weighed in with a social media post that mocked the superstar couple’s celebration at New York’s Madison Square Garden with an altered photo of the venue’s digital marquee that was changed to read “Trump Is Your President.”
