Drake’s Spanish lessons have paid off. Karol G joined Popcast on Wednesday and raved about Drizzy’s ability to perform in Spanish on their “Ahí” collaboration.

“I love him singing in Spanish, and he does it so good that when I presented the song to him, he was like, ‘Should I do like a verse in English or something?'” she said. “And I was like, ‘You should do it in Spanish. You sound so good in Spanish.’ [He said], ‘Come and make me do it perfectly.'”

She recalled coaching Drake as he punched in his Spanish lyrics line-by-line, along with making sure he nailed the pronunciation of words like “rico.” “I tried to just play a little bit with his pronunciation,” the 35-year-old added. “It was so much fun; he’s amazing.”

“Ahí” landed on Karol G’s No Me Arrepiento de Sentir Tanto album in August. The track peaked at No. 44 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Hot Latin Songs chart, while La Bichota’s LP hit the Billboard 200’s top 10 (No. 8 peak).

Drake previously practiced his Spanish on songs like Romeo Santos’ “Odio,” Bad Bunny’s “MIA,” For All the Dogs’ “Gently” with Bad Bunny, as well as Chino Pacas and Fuerza Regida’s “Modo Capone” and $ome $exy $ongs 4 U‘s “MEET YOUR PADRE.”

The 6 God pulled up to the Toronto stop of Karol G’s Viajando Por El Mundo Tropitour and then joined the Colombian superstar on stage at her Houston show, where they performed the live debut of “Ahí.” Drizzy also stuck around to perform “Janice STFU” and “One Dance.”
