Country music fans, it’s time to circle some dates in the calendar.

Today (Jan. 28), Republic Live, the producers of Boots and Hearts Music Festival, announced the dates and full lineup for the four-day fest they claim is Canada’s premier music and camping festival.

The 2025 edition will run August 7-10, at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, and, as earlier reported in Billboard Canada, the headline acts are the previously announced Bailey Zimmerman (Aug. 8), Sam Hunt (Aug. 9) and HARDY (Aug. 10).

Just named as the headliner for the first day kick-off party (Aug. 7) is ACM winner Justin Moore. The opening night of Boots and Hearts also features the Emerging Artist Showcase, now established as a major platform for launching such Canadian country artists as Josh Ross and Owen Riegling.

Joining these U.S. stars is an impressive lineup of notable country and rock acts from both sides of the border. That list includes Grammy rock nominees Daughtry, CMA Award-winning sibling trio The Band Perry (reuniting on stage for the first time in five years), Chase Rice, Tyler Hubbard, Dylan Marlowe, Canadian country hitmakers High Valley, Owen Riegling, Meghan Patrick, Tyler Joe Miller, Canadian rock group Default, and such fast-emerging stars as Stephen Wilson Jr , Andrew Hyatt, Jessie T, Cameron Whitcomb, Sacha and Austin Snell.

Analyzing this year’s bill, Boots and Hearts co-founder Eva Dunford notes that “Hardy, Sam Hunt and Bailey Zimmerman first took the Boots and Hearts stage early in their careers and have since grown into global headliners. Along with our established headline artists, our festival continues to be a rite of passage for future music legends and we can't wait to see this year's new talent—they're destined to be some of the world’s next biggest stars.”

Boots and Hearts is the flagship event for Canadian live entertainment company Republic Live. 2025 marks its 13th year, and the festival continues to bring Republic Live industry accolades. Its cv includes an award from the Academy of Country Music (ACM) for Festival of the Year, and Boots and Hearts secured a seventh win for Country Music Festival of the Year at the 2024 CCMA Awards earlier this year. At that event, for the second consecutive year, Brooke Dunford (Director, of Talent Buying & Business Development) won the Ron Sakamoto Talent Buyer or Promoter of the Year trophy. Last year, Brooke Dunford made Billboard Canada's Power Players list.

The 2024 edition was headlined by Cody Johnson, Thomas Rhett and Jason Aldean, while the 2023 festival, headed by Tim McGraw, Keith Urban and Nickelback, attracted a record 40,000 concertgoers.

Bill Gilliland

Bill Gilliland

FYI

Obituaries: Toronto Record Label Pioneer Bill Gilliland, Global Music Trailblazer Dan Storper of Putumayo

This week we also acknowledge the passing of Sugar Hill Records owner Barry Poss, and top U.S. booking agent Dave Shapiro and former drummer Daniel Williams, who both died in a tragic plane crash.

Bill (William) Gilliland, a Toronto record label head, producer and music entrepreneur, died on May 17, at age 88.

An official death notice called him "a visionary force in Canadian music. A true architect of the country’s music landscape, Bill’s career spanned more than four decades, shaping the sounds of generations and launching the careers of many iconic artists."

Gilliland first made a mark with Arc Records, a subsidiary of Arc Sound Company Ltd. that was established in Toronto in 1958 by Philip G. Anderson. Gilliland and Anderson co-founded Arc Records in 1959 and purchased the Precision Pressing Co. in 1961. Under the direction of Anderson, its president, and vice president Gilliland, Arc Records entered into a contract with US Hit Records and released a series of pop singles albums under the name Hit Parade (1963–64) that specialized in regional artists and tribute albums.
