Toronto rock duo The Darcys are climbing the Canada Modern Rock airplay chart.

The band's single "1986" hits the top ten this week, on the chart dated March 8, in the song's 22nd week charting.

The ominous "1986" comes from Rendering Feelings, the band's sixth LP, and tells a creeping story. On the surface, it could just be a dramatic romance, or it could be a sci-fi warning about sinking into alternate realities. The song's music video suggests the latter — and it also shows just how well "1986" is doing on the airwaves, with all the top comments coming from listeners who heard the track on the radio.

(The Darcys' Wes Marskell and Jason Couse also produced the debut album from Canadian comedian Mae Martin, whose "Good Dream" moves up one spot on Modern Rock this week, 31-30.)

The Darcys aren't the only Canadians cracking the Modern Rock top ten. The Beaches return to the upper echelons of the chart with "Takes One To Know One" climbing from 11 into the top 10 at No. 7. The 2024 single, a follow-up to their 2023 breakthrough Blame My Ex, previously held the top spot on that chart. Powered by a spindly guitar lick, it's rising again in its 33rd week on the chart.

Over on the Canada Country chart, a pair of homegrown artists are notching new debuts. Ontario country star Jade Eagleson has a new entry, the 2024 single "Worth The Double" arriving at No. 54, while B.C. singer — and former junior hockey player — JoJo Mason arrives with the sweet sibling ballad "Just Like You" at No. 59.

Canadian dance music duo Loud Luxury, meanwhile, debut 2025 single "Crash" on the Hot AC chart at No. 39, and The Weeknd's "Cry For Me" arrives on the All-Format chart at No. 44.

At the top of the airplay charts, there's not much movement this week. Myles Smith's "Stargazing" rules atop the All-Format, Hot AC, and AC Airplay charts. Gracie Abrams' "That's So True" moves up to No. 1 on the CHR/Top 40 chart and Lainey Wilson holds atop Canada Country for the second week in a row with "4x4xU."

Three Days Grace continue to top the Mainstream Rock chart with "Mayday" and Hozier leads Modern Rock with "Nobody's Soldier." Both rock charts also have Canadians at No. 2 for another week, with The Tragically Hip's "Wait So Long" in second position on Mainstream Rock and JJ Wilde's "Mess To Make" on Modern Rock.
