Justin Bieber and Tate McRae Lead 2026 Juno Award Nominations: Full List

The Weeknd and country breakout Cameron Whitcomb come next. Lido Pimienta, Alex Cuba, Isabella Lovestory and more are nominated for the first Latin award. Junos will be handed out at two events in Hamilton, Ontario on March 28 and 29.

Two global Canadian superstars will duke it out for top honours at the 2026 Juno Awards.

Announced this morning (Jan. 27) by The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS), the 2026 Juno nominations list is headed by Justin Bieber and Tate McRae, with six nods apiece, closely followed by The Weeknd and Cameron Whitcomb, each with five nominations.

In all, there are 248 nominations spread across 47 categories, with 65 artists making their Junos debut this year. The winners will be named at two events in Hamilton at the untelevised Juno Awards gala on Saturday, March 28, and the Junos broadcast at TD Coliseum on Sunday, March 29, which will air on CBC, CBC Gem and CBC Music’s YouTube.

The six nominations each for Bieber and McRae represent the most each artist has received in a single Junos year. Over his career, Bieber has tallied 32 Juno nominations and won eight Junos. McRae has previously earned 17 nominations and was the biggest Juno winner in 2025, winning four trophies, including artist of the year, though she wasn't there to accept. Quickly establishing herself as a global pop favourite, McRae recently placed at No. 7 on Billboard’s Greatest Pop Stars of 2025 list and was the first artist on the cover of Rolling Stone Canada earlier this month.

Rising country singer-songwriter Cameron Whitcomb makes his first appearance as a Juno nominee this year. He is nominated in the fan choice, single of the year, breakthrough artist of the year, country album and album of the year categories. A big breakout in his short time on the scene, the singer finished at No. 6 on Billboard Canada's Top Canadian Artists of 2025 chart (No. 1 was McRae).

No stranger to Juno recognition, The Weeknd boasts a Juno legacy that includes 22 wins and 46 total nominations, making him one of the most decorated artists ever at the awards.

Another internationally recognized Billboard and Billboard Canada cover star, Daniel Caesar, chimes in with four nominations for 2026 and he will take the TD Coliseum stage as both a performer and the recipient of the international achievement award, recognizing his global impact and continued international success. Other performers already named for an appearance on the Junos broadcast include The Beaches, named group of the year in 2025, Hamilton hometown heroes Arkells and acclaimed Indigenous roots artist William Prince.

In recent years, CARAS has made multiple changes in Juno categories. In 2024, plans to shelve the reggae recording, children's album, Christian/gospel album and international album of the year categories attracted strong criticism, and those first three categories were retained. Also in 2024, the Junos introduced the South Asian recording of the year category, which was won by AP Dhillon. That category returns this year, with Dhillon nominated again for his collaboration with Anuv Jain, alongside charting stars including Karan Aujla, Shubh, Ikky and Sukha.

The most significant addition this year is the inaugural Latin Music recording of the year award, recognizing the growing influence of Latin music in Canada. Notable nominees in the new category include two-time winner Alex Cuba and Polaris Music Prize winner Lido Pimienta. The cultural diversity of Canadian music is also reflected in the categories of Francophone album of the year and contemporary Indigenous artist or group of the year

Ye Says Latest Apology For Hateful Antisemitic Remarks ‘Isn’t About Reviving My Commerciality’ Ahead of Album Release

Following Monday's (Jan. 26) WSJ ad tying his antisemitic rants to the effects of brain damage suffered in a 2002 car crash, Ye still won't explain the origin of his hate speech.

Ye (formerly Kanye West) apologized once again this week for his repeated amplifying of hateful antisemitic remarks, this time taking about a full-page ad in Monday’s (Jan. 26) edition of The Wall Street Journal to offer a mea culpa. The paid advertorial was his reported attempt to make amends to the Jewish community for his repeated embrace of Nazi symbolism and deployment of hate speech against Jews.

West explained in the pages of the Murdoch family-owned paper that the well-documented 2002 car crash that became the inspiration for his breakthrough 2004 single “Through the Wire” resulted in brain damage to the right frontal lobe of his brain that led to mental health issues and an eventual diagnosis of bipolar disorder. The once high-flying rapper and producer then claimed that he spiraled into a four-month manic episode in early 2025 that included “psychotic, paranoid and impulsive behavior that destroyed my life.”
