Alessia Cara, Tanya Tagaq, Jully Black & Shawn Desman To Honour Nelly Furtado At The Juno Awards

With the Juno Awards approaching rapidly, CARAS has announced more performers for the Juno Awards Broadcast hosted by Hamilton's TD Coliseum on March 29.

A cast of Juno Award-winning artists will pay tribute to global pop star Nelly Furtado, who will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame at the event. Honouring Furtado in this musical tribute will be Alessia Cara, Jully Black, Shawn Desman and Tanya Tagaq, alongside some other special guests. They will join Furtado’s own band, led by musical director Herag Sanbalian, who has curated a selection of her greatest hits. To further celebrate Furtado's career, a new exhibition will open March 25 at the National Music Centre in Calgary, the physical home of the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.

The event on March 29 will also feature performances by MICO and Sofia Camara. 23-year-old Filipino-Canadian alt-pop artist MICO has amassed more than 300 million global streams and a devoted fanbase of over 1.8 million “amico" and is also nominated for breakthrough artist of the year this year. A fellow nominee in that category, Portuguese-born, Toronto-raised pop artist Sofia Camara surged to the top with the viral hit “Who Do I Call Now? (Hellbent)” and the Top 10 radio single “Girls Like You” and has impressed at major festivals including Lollapalooza and Osheaga.

Previously named performers on the broadcast include Arkells, Daniel Caesar, The Beaches and William Prince, with Mae Martin on board as host. There will also be appearances from Begonia, Billy Talent and Melanie Fiona, with DJ Dre Ngozi returning as the official show DJ.

The show will air live across Canada on March 29 at 8 pm ET on all of CBC's TV, radio and digital channels.

The night before the big Juno Broadcast, The Juno Awards Gala returns with live performances, the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award, humanitarian award and the presentation of more than 40 Juno Awards. Co-hosted by Damhnait Doyle and Odario Williams, the gala will feature performances by 2026 nominees Fredz, Isabella Lovestory, Manitou Mkwa Singers, Ryan Ofei and Saya Gray. The gala streams live across Canada at 6 pm ET CBC Gem, CBCMusic.ca/junos and YouTube.

Juno Week activities in Hamilton commence before the weekend, launched with the Juno KickOff Concert at The Music Hall on March 26, featuring Canadian country artists James Barker Band, Robyn Ottolini, Sacha, Kalsey Kulyk and The Redhill Valleys. The always-popular Juno Songwriters Circle at FirstOntario Concert Hall on March 27 will feature current Juno nominees Aysanabee, Bahamas, Hayley Gene Penner, Jade LeMac, James Barker, Mariel Buckley, Savannah Ré and Sofia Camara with Nathan Ferraro.

At various venues across downtown Hamilton on March 27 and 28, JUNOfest will showcase such emerging and established Canadian artists as Anna Sofia, Billianne, Katie Tupper, LU KALA, Sebastian Gaskin, Laila Biali, Caity Gyorgy, Junkhouse, Terra Lightfoot, Silverstein, Shawnee Kish, Steve Strongman, Bells Larsen, Miss Emily, Tedy, Great Lake Swimmers, Status/Non-Status, Felix Cartel and others. Festival Fono has revealed the lineup for its third edition, set to take place at the University of Laval campus in Quebec City between Sept. 10-12. The weekend-long event will be headlined by French singer and hitmaker Gims, as well as breakout New York singer Sombr. Other acts on the diverse lineup include Canadian pop singer Alessia Cara, the electro-pop duo Sofi Tukker, 2000s pop icon Natasha Bedingfield, Quebec singer-songwriter Ariane Moffatt and more.
