The Canadian Sync Awards and Sound + Vision are coming to NXNE.

Each year, the Guild of Music Supervisors, Canada (GMSC) celebrates the best in supervision across Canadian film, television, advertising and media. This year, the events will take place at NXNE, bringing this important sector into the hub of Canadian music where major industry events like Billboard Canada Power Players celebration also takes place.

This year, the first in-person edition of Sound + Vision will take place at The W Hotel, Toronto, on June 10. A day of education and illumination for the music supervision sector, the event will feature four in-depth conversations on a variety of topics: Sync + Swim, Sync + Discover, Sync + Impact and Sync + Clear. Panelists will be announced soon, while descriptions are available here. Tickets are available here.

The 2026 Canadian Sync Awards will take place on Thursday, June 11 at the Concert Hall in Toronto. Tickets are available here.

"We absolutely cannot wait to celebrate our sync community at the Canadian Sync Awards and Sound + Vision at NXNE next month," says Heather Gardner, president of GMSC (and a recent Billboard Canada 40 Under 40 honouree). "In 2026, we are celebrating the ten year anniversary of the Guild of Music Supervisors, Canada, and it is amazing to see how much we've grown between then and now.

"These events truly represent everything the Guild stands for: the celebration and promotion of music supervisor excellence at the Canadian Sync Awards, and the education of our community at Sound + Vision. Above all, these events bring our sync ecosystem together, with attendees from Canada, the United States, and beyond, and we look forward to seeing everyone in June!"

The event will highlight the people behind memorable music moments in media this year.

There have been some big ones, including viral moments like the celebrated use of Wolf Parade's "I'll Believe In Anything" in the smash hit Heated Rivalry. That is one of the nominees for best sync in an episodic series, while the whole soundtrack and its music supervisor Scotty Taylor are also nominated for best sync in a drama TV series. There are also major sports moments, like Rogers' use of Triumph's "Lay It on the Line" during the NHL Playoffs and the rallying cry of Queen's "I Want It All" with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra during the Toronto Blue Jays' euphoric run to the World Series in 2025.

Star Canadian singer-songwriter Serena Ryder will be presented with the Impact Award, which celebrates an artist who's made a large contribution in the world of sync while using their platform for social impact. With more than 70 placements to her credit, Ryder has become a prominent voice in mental health and wellness advocacy.

The Canadian Sync Awards will also present “The Huey” Award, honouring legendary music supervisor David Hayman, who passed away in May 2020. The award is given to an aspiring music supervisor who has a passion for the craft, and it comes with a $1,500 honorarium and connection opportunities across the sync ecosystem. Submissions are open here until May 27.

The event will also feature live performances by a trio of acclaimed Canadian musicians: Cat Clyde, Miesha and the Spanks and La Sécurité. All three are making buzz across the industry in a variety of genres, and have had memorable syncs themselves.
