The week of the American election is a light one for new music releases, but there is a handful of notable new albums from diverse Canadian artists. That includes another new reissue from The Tragically Hip, one of the country's most beloved bands.

Also this week, there are new releases from East Coast folk veteran Pamela Morgan, Quebec pop-punk outfit Les Dales Hawerchuk, Toronto-based multi-instrumentalist Louie Sanchez (aka Eirene Cloma of Pantayo), acclaimed Montreal post-rock band Yoo Doo Right, electro-folk combo Rosier and adventurous duo Angell and Crane.

We spotlighted a new album from prolific Toronto indie rocker Homeshake back in March, and he quickly followed that with another, Horsie, in June. He has now delivered a deluxe version of that one, with six unreleased tracks. Check one out here.

Celebrating 25 years together, SOCAN Award-winning indie rock band Les Breastfeeders are still going strong. Their new album, La ville engloutie, is their first since 2011's Dans la gueule des jours. Here's their brand new single.

Hardcore veterans Silverstein have also announced the new release Antibloom on Feb. 21.

Album of the Week: The Tragically Hip, Up To Here (box set reissue)

Canada simply cannot get enough of The Tragically Hip, 40 years after the band formed. Recent months have seen a well-received coffee table book on the Kingston rock heroes, This Is Our Life, followed by a TV documentary series, The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal, that has earned positive reviews. Now we have the latest in a series of deluxe anniversary reissues of classic Hip albums from the '80s and '90s: 1991's Road Apples, 1992's Fully Completely and 1998's Phantom Power and now Up To Here (out today).

The Hip's 1989 full-length debut came out 35 years ago. The new anniversary collection includes a remastered version of the original album plus four previously unreleased songs originally considered for the album. Toss in a live recording of a MuchMusic special called Live at Misty Moon (included in both audio and Blu-ray video form) plus pre-album demos from 1988 and there's plenty here for Hip fanatics. The set features four 180 g LPs plus a DVD and is also available in a 3CD version.

Diljit Dosanjh Has Arrived: The Rise of a Global Star

The first time the Punjabi singer and actor came to Canada, he vowed to play at a stadium. With the Dil-Luminati Tour in 2024, he made it happen – setting a record in the process. As part of Billboard's Global No. 1s series, Dosanjh talks about his meteoric rise and his history-making year.

Throughout his history-making Dil-Luminati Tour, Diljit Dosanjh has a line that he’s repeated proudly on stage, “Punjabi Aa Gaye Oye” – or, “The Punjabis have arrived!”

The slogan has recognized not just the strides made by Diljit, but the doors his astounding success has opened for Punjabi music and culture.
