Diljit Dosanjh Celebrates His Historic Show at London’s Wembley Stadium: ‘It’s Very Special’
Marking his largest European concert, Dosanjh became the first-ever Indian and Punjabi artist to headline the 90,000-capacity U.K. stadium on Sept. 12.

Diljit Dosanjh has made history again.
Over the weekend (Sept. 12), the Punjabi superstar played his largest European show at London’s Wembley Stadium. It was a historic moment for Dosanjh, as he became the first Indian and Punjabi artist to headline at the U.K. stadium.
Ahead of his show, Dosanjh commemorated the major moment, telling the BBC that he is “thankful” to headline the London venue, which holds approximately 90,000 people.
“When we were going to book this venue, everyone said, 'Think again before you book, it's a big stadium'," he shared. "I said: 'We'll see whatever comes. I want that our people are happy and can say yes, we can do this too!'"
Dosanjh reflected on the iconic artists who had performed there before him, revealing that to follow their footsteps "means a lot, a lot.”
He continued: "It may not mean as much for someone like Harry Styles, as much as it means for us. He has performed on such stages, but for us, it's very special. Coming from a village to here - it's very special."
In achieving this major milestone, he has felt nothing but positivity: "I feel good. I feel happy. And I feel good for my people. I feel good for the next generation.”
The U.K. show also has a Canadian connection. Dosanjh announced the Wembley date onstage during his sold-out Rogers Centre concert in Toronto in May, where he noted that performing at the stadium put him in the company of artists including Michael Jackson, Queen and Prince.
The Wembley show will mark another milestone for Punjabi music in the U.K. Last year, Arijit Singh became the first Indian artist to headline a U.K. stadium, performing at the nearby Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. For Dosanjh, Wembley represents a significant step up from his last London appearance, when he headlined the 20,000-capacity O2 Arena in October 2024.
Since Dosanjh announced his Wembley date, the stadium’s concert calendar has continued to fill out, with Harry Styles, My Chemical Romance, Bruno Mars, The Weeknd and Bon Jovi among the artists also scheduled to perform at the venue.
In recent months, Dosanjh has notched multiple touring milestones. Back in June, he broke his own record for the biggest North American tour by a Punjabi artist, amassing $32 million across 15 shows in support of his acclaimed album, Aura.
Dosanjh performed multiple dates in Canada, including stops in Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg and Toronto. Before Dosanjh took the stage at the latter stop, he met with students from Toronto Metropolitan University and Billboard Canada’s university course dedicated to the singer.
His latest North American run drew more than 225,000 fans, surpassing the 215,000 attendees and $27 million gross of his 2024 Dil-Luminati Tour. Following the presale for the Aura Tour, Live Nation also confirmed that Dosanjh had set the company’s record for the largest North American presale by a South Asian artist.
The Aura Tour began its global run last October with shows in Sydney and Melbourne, drawing more than 90,000 fans across Australia. The concerts were also reported to be the first sold-out stadium headline shows by a Punjabi artist in the country.
As the scale of Dosanjh’s touring career continues to grow, he has been characteristically direct about what that visibility represents. As he told the BBC: “We are here. Punjabi Aa Gaye Oye!”
