Former Montrealer David Hazan will be heading up Midem’s North American business from the trade show’s NYC offices. The annual BTB trade fair takes place at Palais des Festivals, Cannes, France, June 4 through 7.

A former drummer in The Pin Ups, a short-lived but popular group in his hometown, he now lives in the US where for the past 14 years he has operated his own DLH Strategic Marketing firm that offers a basket of consulting services to more than two dozen tech, festival and media clients around the world.

Hazan’s music marketing experience includes senior positions at The Orchard, Universal Music Group, Warner Music Group, MTV Networks, Putumayo World Music, and Wind-up Records. At Wind-up Records, he was the EVP of Sales & Marketing, where he created and directed the marketing and release campaigns for multi-platinum Grammy winners Evanescence, as well as Creed, Seether, Finger 11 and more. Hazan has booked festival, arena, casino, theatre, performing arts centres, and club engagements for artists including Melissa Etheridge, Paul Shaffer, Wu-Tang Clan, Lil Kim, and the Jersey Boys original Broadway Cast.
