Here is a dream opportunity for a Finger Eleven fan.
The Juno-winning and platinum selling veteran hard rock band from Burlington, Ontario, have just announced an open call for a vocalist to duet with them on a new version of their single, “Last Night on Earth,” the title track ballad from their latest release on Better Noise Music.
"We have always loved the idea of turning 'Last Night on Earth' into a duet," says lead singer Scott Anderson. "We hope artists will bring their own style and emotion whether by adding lyrics, adjusting the arrangement, or working within the existing framework. I'm excited to hear the different interpretations. I have no idea what to expect, and that’s exactly what I love about it. So get singing ... or rapping... or yodelling — whatever ya got.''
Finger Eleven made the announcement on Instagram. Anderson explains "duet" is open for interpretation, and could include remixes, harmonization, adding more lyrics, or however fans want to take it.
Finger Eleven have made both instrumental and full-vocal versions of the track available for artists to download and put their own spin on. Download links here.
Last Night on Earth, their seventh album, was released on Nov. 7 last year and it is their first new album in over a decade. Their comeback has been successful, with the single ''Blue Sky Mystery," featuring guest vocals by Richard Patrick from fellow alt-rock veterans Filter, enjoying a long run on the Billboard Canada Mainstream Rock Airplay chart and the song "Adrenaline" coming in at No. 3 on the year-end 2025 version of that chart.
In 2024, Finger Eleven scored a major milestone when they crossed one billion streams. Their material has been averaging 5 million streams per week, confirming their their status as one of the best-selling Canadian rock bands of all time.
After forming in the late 1990s, Finger Eleven broke through in 2000 with The Greyest of Blue Skies, followed by their 2003 self-titled album. It sold gold in the U.S. and platinum in Canada, spawning a blockbuster hit with the track ''One Thing.'' Their 2007 album, Them vs. You vs. Me, launched the single "Paralyzer", which topped the Canadian Hot 100 and both U.S. rock charts, and it won the Juno Award for rock album of the year in 2008. The group have been nominated for eight other Juno Awards and they received a SOCAN Award for international achievement in 2006.
Along with the open call for a duet partner, Finger Eleven have announced a major western Canadian tour for spring 2027. It commences in Thunder Bay on March 3, closing out in Prince Albert on April 5.
