Tinashe is back, but she never really left. The singer announced plans for her new album, Popstar, on Thursday (July 16), and it is set to arrive on Sept. 25.

A wild clip of Tinashe using a sledgehammer to smash a car window in Los Angeles went viral earlier this week, which now makes sense, with her new single “Crash Out” hitting streaming services on Thursday.

The woozy track finds Tinashe snapping at her haters. “This can’t be what this life is like/ It’s overrated, in a city full of people tryna make it/ The American dream is outdated/ Now they sitting on the Internet hating,” she sings.

“Crash Out” serves as the second single from the album, following “Too Easy.” Popstar, according to Apple Music, boasts 16 songs in total.

Popstar is Nasty Nashe’s first album since 2024’s Quantum Baby, which snuck inside the Billboard 200 with a debut at No. 199.

The 33-year-old has found a hit in each of the last two years, with 2024’s “Nasty” reaching No. 61 on the Billboard Hot 100. She made dancefloor magic when teaming up with Disco Lines for the “No Broke Boys” remix in 2025, which spawned a Song of the Summer candidate last year and peaked at No. 39 on the Hot 100 (Tinashe’s second top 40 hit).

The Popstar cover art features a close-up headshot of Tinashe rocking headphones, glasses and a pink tie-dye T-shirt, while her pupils are ringed with stars.

Tinashe will perform new songs from Popstar the weekend of the album’s release, when she takes the stage at the All Things Go festival in Maryland.

Festival d'été de Québec (FEQ) is one of North America's biggest festival stages, but remains somewhat of a well-kept secret within Canada. The main stage on the historic Plains of Abraham in Quebec City fluctuates in capacity from about 75,000 to over 100,000, and the sheer scope often comes as a surprise to acts looking out over the crowd and realizing just how far back it goes.
