Daniel Caesar is returning to where he played his first major headlining show: The Mod Club in Toronto on June 14 as part of NXNE 2025.

The Canadian R&B star will return home to The Mod Club for Billboard Canada The Stage at NXNE – nearly a decade after his first major headlining show at the same venue in 2016.

The venue will be reverting back to its original name of The Mod Club, rebranded by owner Live Nation from the name Axis Club for the first time since 2021.

When he first played the venue, Daniel Caesar was a golden boy with a golden voice, gaining buzz with his EP Pilgrim’s Paradise and still a year away from his classic 2017 debut Freudian.

That album would be the first of his three albums charting in the top 20 of the Canadian Hot 100, with multiple hits on the Billboard Canadian and U.S. Hot 100. He has a No. 1 on both charts as a featured artist with Justin Bieber and Giveon on the song “Peaches,” while he was featured prominently on multiple charting hits on Tyler, The Creator’s No. 1 album Chromakopia last year.

In 2023, Caesar graduated to arenas, playing Madison Square Garden in New York City and Scotiabank Arena in his hometown Toronto. He was a prominent guest at Tyler, The Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw festival at Dodgers Stadium in 2024, playing his own feature set and collaborating with Tyler and Doechii in a viral performance of “Balloons.”

The Mod Club performance is a special intimate show for his fans who have been with him from the beginning. A year after he played The Mod Club, in 2017, Caesar also played NXNE – then an up-and-coming talent, now, with the festival turning 30, an artist who has reached undeniable headline status.

Tim Leiweke to Step Down as OVG’s CEO After Being Criminally Indicted for Bid-Rigging

The government accuses Leiweke of orchestrating a "conspiracy to rig the bidding process" to win a contract to build and operate the Moody Center in Austin.

Tim Leiweke, one of the most accomplished CEOs in the live entertainment and facilities business, announced today that he is stepping down as CEO of Oak View Group (OVG) after being indicted by the Department of Justice’s Antitrust Division for bid-rigging related to the company’s 2017 contract to build the Moody Center Arena in Austin.

On Wednesday (July 9), a federal grand jury in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas returned an indictment against Leiweke, alleging he orchestrated a “conspiracy to rig the bidding process for an arena at a public university in Austin, Texas.” Authorities say Leiweke conspired with the chief executive of Legends Hospitality to rig the bidding for the construction and management of Austin’s $338 million, 19,000-seat Moody Center.
