Tate McRae is merging from the fast lane to something a little more domestic. The pop star announced via social media that her new single, “Housewife,” will arrive on Oct. 15. The announcement includes the single’s artwork, which features McRae in a striking red bikini next to a stroller full of cash.

The post was simply captioned: “Housewife. Out 10.15,” followed by a diamond ring emoji.

“Housewife” will be McRae’s first official release for this new era that she’s been quietly teasing for months. And while she hasn’t quite given fans the full picture yet, there were plenty of clues dropped ahead of this announcement.

In August, she closed out her Lollapalooza headlining set in Chicago by taking a literal dip in gold. During “Sports Car,” McRae climbed into a bathtub filled with shimmering gold paint before emerging covered dripping in the metallic hue as fireworks went off over the festival. The dramatic finale quickly became one of the most memorable moments of the weekend — and, possibly, another hint that McRae was ready to move into a new era.

The performance also fit into a larger visual world McRae has been developing around transformation and pop-star mythology. Her Lollapalooza show appeared to be built around the theme “The Anatomy of a Popstar,” with Greco-Roman-inspired columns and an elaborate visual presentation leading into the gold-dipped finale.

She has substantial momentum that will propel her forward into this new era. McRae’s third studio album, So Close to What, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in March 2025, become her the first to top the tally. The set also sent 11 tracks onto the Billboard Hot 100, with single “Sports Car” peaking at No. 16.

She followed that success with “What I Want,” her collaboration with Morgan Wallen, which debuted at No. 1 on the Hot 100 in May 2025 and became McRae’s first leader on the chart. She later scored another top 10 with “Tit for Tat,” which peaked at No. 3.

McRae was also named Billboard’s Hitmaker recipient at the 2026 Billboard Women in Music ceremony.

Toronto Metropolitan University Named One of 2026's Top Music Business Schools by Billboard

TMU's Professional Music Program earns the sole Canadian placement on the list for the second straight year. This year began a partnership with Billboard Canada that included a first-of-its-kind course centred around Punjabi star Diljit Dosanjh taught by National Editor Richard Trapunski and co-developed with TMU's Charlie Wall-Andrews.

Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) has been named one of Billboard’s Top Music Business Schools for a second consecutive year.

TMU is the sole Canadian entry for 2026. After appearing on last year's list, it lands alongside fellow international institutions "educating the next generation of music industry leaders" such as Berklee College in Boston and Abbey Road Institute in London, U.K. Billboard chooses which schools to honour based on industry recommendations, information from power list alumni and information requested from the schools themselves.
