Igloofest Montreal Gets Four Tet, Bladee, Skepta for 2025 Lineup

The festival famous for bringing the heat to Montreal's ice cold winters has revealed its 17th edition, with Canadian duo Zeds Dead, German DJ Claptone and UK producer Michael Bibi — in his Montreal debut — also set to take the outdoor stage.

Igloofest is preparing for a heated 17th edition in the depths of Montreal winter.

U.K. electronic musician Four Tet and Swedish rapper and Drain Gang mastermind Bladee will both take the festival's outdoor stage, helping the crowd get some friction going amidst frigid temperatures. So will British rapper Skepta, bringing his Más Tiempo house DJ set to Montreal.

Four Tet last played the festival in 2019 — and nearly lost some fingers, according to Igloofest — and since then he's only become a bigger name, performing with dance music breakout Fred Again.. and hitmaker Skrillex.

Canadian duo Zeds Dead, German DJ Claptone, Belgian-born and Montreal-based Apashe, and Swedish House Mafia's Steve Angello will also each headline one night across the four weekends of the festival.

There's plenty of Canadian talent braving the winter cold this year. Local favourite Marie Davidson is doing a DJ set as part of a showcase curated by Montreal collective Homegrown Harvest, Montreal producer Priori will open for Avalon Emerson and Four Tet, and Montreal-based Moroccan duo Elles&U will get the crowd warmed up for Turkish DJ Mahmut Orhan.

The outdoor dance music festival, which sets up shop in Montreal's Old Port neighbourhood every year, has become an annual staple for its ability to get Montrealers out of the house during the hibernation months of January and February. The festival will also be bringing parties to Quebec City and Gatineau in 2025, as part of its Monster Tour.

Igloofest 2025 runs every weekend from January 16 to February 8. Tickets go on sale November 6 at 11 a.m.

SOCAN Sues Festival d’été de Québec (FEQ) Over Licensing Fees: Report

As the Quebec City music festival started on July 3, it was hit with a lawsuit from the performing rights organization claiming it had "failed to obtain a license from SOCAN and...not paid any royalties or submitted any report forms to SOCAN.”

The Festival d’été de Québec (FEQ) is being sued by the Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada (SOCAN) for copyright infringement and failure to pay royalties for approximately three years, according to a report by the National Post.

SOCAN, which is responsible for granting licences and collecting royalties on licensed music in Canada, claims in the lawsuit filed in Federal Court that since at least July 2022, the festival’s organizers “have failed to obtain a license from SOCAN and have not paid any royalties or submitted any report forms to SOCAN.”
