Angine de Poitrine Will Open for Jack White at Toronto's RBC Amphitheatre the Same Night as Their Show at The Mod Club

Angine de Poitrine are coming to Toronto.

The Quebec math rock group will support Jack White for one night at Toronto’s RBC Amphitheatre on July 14. They’ll join in on the indie rocker’s sole Canadian date on his upcoming North American tour.

Instead of watching White perform that same evening, they’ll head across the city to play their own sold-out headlining gig at The Mod Club, followed by two additional sold-out dates on July 16 and 18.

In two months, the masked polka dot-clad duo have skyrocketed into mainstream consciousness, thanks to the viral success of their debut KEXP performance, which is currently sitting at 8.5 million views. Their virtuosic instrumental sound — helmed by members operating under pseudonyms Khn de Poitrine and Klek de Poitrine — has taken listeners by storm, as they’ve gone from nearly unknown outside of their home province to globally beloved.

Earlier this year, they released Vol. II, which includes the mega-popular hits “Fabienk” and “Mata Zyklek.” It’s the follow-up record to 2024’s Vol. I, which has picked up steam following the group’s virality. Angine de Poitrine are riding the wave of momentum, and are set to play multiple sold-out shows across Canada, the U.S., and Europe for the rest of the year.

“It all happened very quick,” Steven Himmelfarb, vice president of one of Canada’s biggest booking agents, The Feldman Agency, tells Billboard Canada in this week's Executive of the Week interview. “I don't think anyone was anticipating it to get so crazy so soon.” He cites the KEXP clip as the catalyst for the group’s major success: “It was the perfect storm of really fun, really creative and it just connected with everyone,” he says.

While the band has viral internet success, it has also translated into sold-out ticket sales. Tickets for the duo’s Toronto headline shows are reaching over $500 on the resale market — a discouraging ticket-buying tactic that the provincial government is determined to hopefully curb in the coming months.

“The Mod Club blew out immediately and then everywhere it just — game on,” Himmelfarb says. “Now it's about keeping up with demand.”

As Angine de Poitrine gears up to open for White, they could be playing to another sold-out crowd. Last year, the former White Stripes frontman played three sold-out shows in Toronto, one at History and two at Massey Hall in support of 2024’s No Name.

White is the latest artist to co-sign the Quebec duo, joining artists like Dave Grohl and Canadian electronic titan, Deadmau5, who recently teased that he was remixing the Vol. II hit “Fabienk" via social media.

White, meanwhile, is a surprise last-minute addition to the first weekend of Coachella this weekend.
