First Concerts Announced For Transformed Hamilton Arena

Hot on the heels of the news that the arena will host the 2026 Juno Awards comes word that Italian vocal superstar Andrea Bocelli will perform at the Oak View Group's ambitiously renovated arena on Dec. 9, the only Canadian date of a major tour.

Hamilton's transformed arena has its first official bookings.

Last week, a Billboard Canada story featured an exclusive inside look at the ambitious $290 million transformation of the former FirstOntario Centre. Since then, there have been two announcements of major shows coming to the downtown venue that is slated to reopen in late 2025.

The Juno Awards recently named Hamilton the host city for the 2026 event, and the as-yet-unnamed Hamilton Arena will be the venue for the Juno Awards show, set for March 29, 2026.

Today (March 26), Oak View Group, developers of the arena, announced that, on Dec. 9, 2025, it will present the only Canadian appearance by Italian tenor superstar Andrea Bocelli during his major late 2025 North American October and December tour.

"We are thrilled to welcome Andrea Bocelli, one of our generation’s most legendary performers, to Hamilton for the first time," declares Nick DeLuco, general manager of the new arena. "With the recent announcement of the 2026 Juno Awards taking place at Hamilton Arena, our opening season is beginning to take shape as we blend world-class artistry with the revitalized energy of our venue."

Tickets go on sale to the public on Monday, April 7 at 10 am ET. Visit andreabocelli.com & gelbproductions.com/tour for more info.

Hamilton Arena is Oak View Group's flagship Canadian venue. Formerly known as Copps Coliseum and FirstOntario Centre, the building hosted multiple Juno Awards previously, but the new space will bear little resemblance to those venues. A public-private project with the City of Hamilton, the transformation involves the entire arena being gutted and rebuilt.

In the tour, Oak View Group talked about the ambition to turn the Hamilton Arena into something that could complement and compete with venues in the major Toronto market and become an entertainment centrepiece in SouthWestern Ontario.

The Rolling Stones Throw Back to Legendary 1977 Concert at Toronto's El Mocambo For Rollout of New Album 'Foreign Tongues'

One of the new songs “Rough & Twisted” was secretly released on vinyl on Record Store Day (April 18) under the Cockroaches alias, referencing their secret Toronto show as The Cockroaches in 1977.

The Rolling Stones are back, and there’s a Toronto connection behind their latest rollout.

Today (May 5), the British rock legends announced their forthcoming album Foreign Tongues, set for release on July 10, via an album trailer uploaded to YouTube.
