Obituaries: Singer-Songwriter Wyckham Porteous, Rivoli Co-Founder David Stearn, Jazz Vocalist Cassandra Wilson

This week we also knowledge the passing of Texan country star Frankie Miller.

Wyckham Porteous, an acclaimed folk-rock singer-songwriter and playwright who was long a fixture on the Vancouver scene, died on Aug. 17, a day before his 70th birthday.

Over a long and musically varied career, Porteous released six albums under his own name and collaborated with other local artists. Mainstream commercial success eluded him, but his work attracted critical kudos and the respect of his peers.
