Drake Seemingly Previews His Version of Ella Langley's 'Choosin' Texas'
The Toronto rapper put an R&B spin on the chart-topping country music hit featuring his own vocals and played it in Toronto this weekend. Drake recently appeared at Langley's Arkansas concert, fuelling rumours of a potential collab.

Last night (Aug. 31), Drake previewed his own remix to Ella Langley's massive hit "Choosin' Texas" while appearing at a DJ set in a Toronto nightclub. His rendition puts an R&B spin on the chart-topping, country music track, swapping out its upbeat instrumental for a slowed-down, atmospheric beat typical to the 6 God's catalogue. In the brief snippet, Drake borrows the melody from the song's earworm chorus.
Drake has proven himself to be one of Ella's Fellas throughout the month, through several mutual interactions with the rising country star. Recently, he made a surprise appearance during the singer's Dandelion tour stop in Arkansas, singing along to "Choosin' Texas" onscreen. He also gave Langley props online for her "goated pen" after she posted a TikTok video rapping the lyrics to his 2011 Take Care cut "HYFR (Hell Ya F--ing Right), and he previously played the track during a DJ set at a Houston, Texas nightclub as it continued its ascension up the charts.
"Choosin' Texas" has been carving out a clear lane as 2026's biggest hit over the last several months. It currently ranks in a tie for the fifth longest No. 1 hit of all-time on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, having earned a 16th non-consecutive week at No. 1 on last week's chart dated Aug. 29. The track made a long climb towards the top in Canada, first appearing on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 in November and first hitting No. 1 in April. It continues to break records in the U.S. too, most recently tying Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road" for the longest reign atop the Billboard Hot 100 for a non-holiday song after notching a milestone 19th week at the top.
Drake has been one of the few artists to give "Choosin' Texas" some serious competition amid its chart-topping run. His Iceman album spawned the hit single "Janice STFU," which skyrocketed directly to No. 1 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, where it remained for three consecutive weeks, becoming his longest-running No. 1 hit of the decade. It's one of just three songs that has unseated "Choosin' Texas" from the top spot, along with Olivia Rodrigo's "Drop Dead" and Taylor Swift's "I Knew It, I Knew You," and it's the only one that has spent multiple weeks at No. 1.
With an official "Choosin' Texas" remix potentially on the horizon, an alliance between the two Billboard chart juggernauts could easily turn the mega hit into an even more historic performance on the charts.
