The Canadian Sync Awards also presented The Huey Award to Marlon Knight. The award, which honours legendary music supervisor David Hayman, who passed away in May 2020, includes a $1,500 honorarium and is presented to an aspiring music supervisor who has demonstrated passion for the craft.

Social Justice Award

Canadian Music Week presented Canadian rapper, record producer, DJ, and record executive Kardinal Offishall with the Social Justice Award at the CMW Music Summit on June 10 at the Westin Harbour Castle. Canadian media personality Master T (pictured right) hosted a keynote interview with Kardinal Offishall, followed by the presentation of this second annual award.

Winners of the 22nd Jim Beam Indies

The event, staged June 8 at the History nightclub, was hosted by Shreya Khanna, an on-air correspondent for Entertainment Tonight ET Canada and host of Live Nation Fans, with performances by Jim Beam Talent Search winners FKB, AR Paisley, Aysanabee, Brett Kissel, Maestro Fresh Wes, and 2023 Video of the Year winner Charlotte Cardin.

One Direction Songs and Albums Re-Enter the Canadian Charts Following Liam Payne's Death

"Night Changes" and "Story of My Life" are both back on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, while all five of their studio albums are on the Canadian Albums chart this week.

Canadian fans are mourning One Direction's Liam Payne. The record-breaking boy band have re-entered the Canadian charts this week, following Payne's death at age 31 on October 16.

"Night Changes," which previously spent 20 weeks on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 and peaked at No. 21, has re-entered at No. 33. The song comes from the band's fourth album, Four, which was also their final record as a five-piece, before Zayn Malik's departure.
