Osheaga & VELD Are This Weekend’s Biggest Music Festivals: Canadian Concerts of the Week
Plus: Tate McRae embarks on cross-country dates, while American rock band Linkin Park comes to Montreal.
50m
Across the country, there are many events to keep music fans busy — including two diverse music festivals dominating central Canada to Gen-Z pop girl Tate McRae hitting two Canadian cities and 2000s relic bands TV on the Radio and Linkin Park performing in Toronto and Montreal, respectively.
Concerts of the Week
Osheaga, Parc Jean Drapeau, Montreal — August 1-3
Montreal’s biggest music festival returns this weekend. 2025's lineup follows the formula of last year's fest with two contemporary solo headliners — Olivia Rodrigo and Tyler, the Creator — plus one legacy rock group, The Killers. Its diverse roster of artists is bound to draw thousands of festivalgoers back to the Parc Jean-Drapeau festival grounds this weekend.

There are many exciting feats for the festival’s 18th edition. Pop star Rodrigo will make her Osheaga debut this year, closing out the three-day fest on Sunday night. After playing a sold-out Bell Centre show on July 22, rapper Tyler, the Creator, is back in Montreal for his Saturday night headlining slot.
On Friday’s lineup is recent Grammy winner Doechii — Osheaga was already in talks to book the Florida swamp princess before she exploded onto the music scene — her rise mirrors last year's breakout Chappell Roan. Singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams played early on the mainstage in 2022, but following her opening slot for Taylor Swift and No. 1 hit on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100, she's back as one of the top acts.
Shaboozey will take the Osheaga stage as well — making him the first-ever artist to play that festival as well as LASSO, Montreal's country music festival backed by Evenko at Parc Jean-Drapeau.
On the Canadian side of the lineup, The Beaches will return to the festival for their third performance, but the first since their 2023 breakout track "Blame Brett." The festival boosts some of the nation’s emerging acts, including Ekkstasy, Aqyila, Sofia Camara, Mint Simon, bbno$ and 2025 Polaris Music Prize nominee Bibi Club — to name a few.

The Osheaga lineup further reflects an openness in music taste, bringing together indie darling Lucy Dacus, dance music duo The Chainsmokers, queer viral breakthrough Gigi Perez, R&B-Afropop gem Amaarae, and chart-topping singer Alex Warren all on the same lineup. Reunited 2000s indie rock greats TV on the Radio are there, too.

Ontario's biggest electronic music festival is returning to Downsview Park for its 12th edition, boasting a packed weekend full of good vibes and even better beats courtesy of some serious heavyweights on the EDM scene. One of this year’s headliners is local hero, deadmau5. For years, the Canadian producer — and Billboard Canada NXNE cover star — has been pushing boundaries as one of the genre’s biggest innovators. VELD is a production of INK Entertainment, whose founder, Charles Khabouth, ranked on Billboard Canada’s Power Players 2025 list. Khabouth booked some of deadmau5’s earliest shows in Toronto and said booking him for VELD was a full-circle moment. Joining deadmau5 on the lineup is his close collaborator and fellow Canadian artist, REZZ. The duo, coined REZZMAU5, debuted on the VELD Festival stage in 2023.EDM fans should be thrilled by
DJ-producers Tiësto, John Summit and Alesso, who are among the dance and electronic scene’s bggest names and have collaborated with chart-topping artists like Tate McRae, Charli xcx and K-pop band Stray Kids.
On top of the headliners, Canadian acts are present at the EDM festival. Toronto bass music producer Cpark, London, Ontario-native Loud Luxury and Kelowna, B.C.’s Excision, behind the viral Shrek animation, are all set to take the stage throughout the three-day fest. Plus, emerging duos ALKEMY and DirtyHappy are ready to dance the night away with festivalgoers.

TV on the Radio, History, Toronto — August 1
After a five-year-long live performance hiatus, the Brooklyn rock band returned to the stage — and made their debut on NPR’s Tiny Desk series — last November to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their 2002 album, Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes. This year, the favourites of the 2000s indie rock boom ramped up their touring plans this year, performing a lone headlining Canadian stop in Toronto at the beginning of August, and a festival slot at Osheaga the following day.
